Pepper Rabbit just put out a 3 track EP, Rose Mary Stretch , to help wet our appetites for their 2nd LP, Red Velvet Snow Ball , comes out August 9th. The teaser includes a refreshing cover of Miniature Tigers’ “Gold Skull”, the title track, and a demo that will be featured on the full length. When I saw them live week, they were unfortunately pretty underwhelming, but I still love their music. It’s all just too quirky and charming to not enjoy immensely. Pepper Rabbit's 2010 debut album Beauregard is one that I wished I had heard during that year. More than likely it would have found its way on to the end of the year list. There's a great expansive sound achieved on the album despite the fact that there are only two members of the band. After listening to the album it will come as no surprise that these two hail from New Orleans as there's heavy influences from jazz and back porch folk while adding their own twist with electronic tendencies.
