Here's a nicely blended sound if I've ever heard one. In The Rosebuds I hear definite notes of Arcade Fire (see the impeccable piano-driven wonderfulness of "We Used To Wait"), but with a more melancholy quality that doesn't exist in the latter. To continue pushing their fifth and latest album, the Rosebuds are taking Loud Planes Fly Low back out on the road again this fall. The thing is, the gigs don't start up until a month after they play the Hopscotch Music Festival in their native Raleigh, N.C. The Rosebuds' latest is the first following the divorce of lead members Kelly Crisp and Ivan Howard. Lyrically, songs share the sadness of their coping process. Musically, its likely the band's saddest as well, slower and darker than previous efforts while still exploring a wide variety of styles and sounds.
Supporting the early-June release of Loud Planes Fly Low, The Rosebuds returned to Eau Claire on July 20 for the first time in two years and played one of the most memorable shows since its last visit. A full photo set and written review of the show is included!
The Rosebuds' call and response sing-along, "Nice Fox," was a crowd favorite at this July 20 show at the House of Rock. Sweaty arms swung around drunken friends, and exhausted, enthusiastic voices strained to hit their mark and contribute to the dark ballad. Stay tuned for more from this great show!

Nothing stops The Rosebuds from making music together.
