Ghostland Observatory will lazerize WaMu this weekend / photo by Christopher Nelson We've got another great week of shows in Seattle, with a ton of variety. This is a city where you can see a good show just about every night of the week, and this one is no exception. Starting on Monday night, we've got some great Northwest connections back in town with former Fleet Fox Josh Tillman's new project, Father John Misty , performing at Neumos. On Tuesday, there's a psych fest at Neumos with Black Moth Super Rainbow, Lumerians, and Pictorials . [...]

This week's mixtape Friday Mixtape was curated by @ColinCrane1234 . Check out Colin Crane's website , and his non-profit the Pulsera Project . Colin writes: This is a mix that has been slowly born with the changing seasons-a transition from the melancholy of winter to a celebration of Spring covering the world in a technicolor blanket, giving new energy to the dreams and visions that had been hibernating for months in the cold. Magic is the flowering of the human potential; let's pull out our wands. There is a solid [...]
![LOVE IS ALL AROUND FOR ROSIE THOMAS [PHOTOS]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4183413_lg.jpg)
Rosie Thomas (@onerosiecheek) is something else, I'll tell ya. When she opens her mouth to sing, an incredibly rich, honeyed voice pours out of her, but when she opens her mouth to speak, well, I heard someone once told her she sounded like a bug. Her voice is high-pitched and squeezed with the nasal tinge associated with Midwest accents. While this dichotomy is slightly jarring, her talent is undeniable, and her performance at Joe's Pub on Saturday night held the full room in rapt attention. She first stepped out onto the stage disguised [...]

![[Review/Listen] – Rosie Thomas – "With Love"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4149621_lg.jpg)
Well, Rosie Thomas has done it again, stolen my heart with her simple tales told in hums and harmonies. Her latest album "With Love" was fittingly released on Valentine's Day this year, and it addresses the issues of love, relationships and heartache that she has become famous for tackling. Thomas manages to write overly sweet love songs that somehow aren't annoying and to write heartbreaking tunes that always feel real. I have never heard another vocalist who can imbue their voice with tears in the way Thomas does. I know she isn't [...]

Sufjan Stevens and Rosie Thomas Now Playing – twice every week, a roundtable of our writers will give their views on some of the recently-released new tracks. It's as simple as that! If you want to tell us what you think of the song, feel free to leave a comment below. Track: 'Where Were You?' by Sufjan Stevens and Rosie Thomas [...]

In high school, I had a bit of a drive every morning to get to school. I can still remember the feeling of freedom the first day of Junior year when I drove myself to school - no carpool, no parents, just me and my music. The good thing about my commute was that for those twenty-five minutes five days a week, nothing else mattered. Driving down along the greenery of 280 was my chance at 7:15 (7:18, 7:19...) every morning to get lost in thought and just let it all settle. This time was mine, and no one else's. One [...]
It's really not that unusual or left-field that 20102s The Age of Adz was a heavily-electronic affair; while most people became fans of Sufjan Stevens through indie-folk albums like Michigan and Illinois , he was making electronic music long before on early records such as Enjoy Your Rabbit . Rather than a departure from his signature sound, then, Adz was arguably a return to Sufjan's roots. And to those that didn't like his electronic opus, Sufjan's 2010 All Delighted People EP featured folk-based tunes like "Enchanting Ghost," ensuring that Stevens [...]

Well, if you were not a fan of Sufjan Stevens' turn on Age Of Adz , then you should probably just turn away and go out the way you came. But, if you in any way enjoyed Sufjan Stevens' experiments with trashy beats and auto-tune, then get ready to fall in love. Record Store Day will bring a split 73 of Sufjan Stevens and Rosie Thomas, titled Hit & Run Vol. 1 , and the Rosie Thomas side (which is basically a collaboration with Sufjan), "Where Were You?" is available for stream below. We'll keep our eyes peeled [...]

It's a great week to be a Sufjan Stevens fan. He has two new tracks out this week, both which continue in the experimental / electronic direction that he's been exploring since Age of Adz . The first track is "Museum Day", a collaboration with Anticon label artists Serengeti and Son Lux under the moniker, s / s / s. Sufjan provides some glitchy electronic textures and backing vocals to Serengeti's minimal beats and rapping. He also does an auto-tuned intro to the track. Much more interesting to me, though, is Sufjan's split 73 with frequent collaborator [...]

On Record Store Day, Sufjan Stevens will be releasing a split 7" single with friend and frequent collaborator Rose Thomas, with a reimagined version of "Where Were You?" acting as the a-side and "Here I Am!" as the b-side. "Where Were You?" was included on Thomas' recently released album With Love , and "Here I Am!" is Sufjan's answer to that question. Both songs were recorded and mixed by Mr. Stevens, who, as is evident from this song and his recent s / s / s collaboration , seems to be really into auto-tune as of [...]
