I n all seriousness though, it's been quite some time since we got some drum n bass up on the old blog, which sort of bugs me, because if there's anything that really needs to make a full on comeback, it's drum n bass. And I know, some people will argue that it already has; a lot of the dubstep shows in LA these days will feature a dnb act or two, but most of the time is almost as a novelty. It's not a drum n bass show, it's a dubstep show with a party planner [...]

Roska is a talented vinyl mastermind with a an ear for long sensual vocals like that in Myth, and a serious vendatta against anything like hip positioning during hymns. Either way hollow Afrikan drums, and shrill whistles bring back the smell of island rum and 'danja' from some carribean getaway. Sach O’s still promoting that Son Raw mix , bruv. There are approximately 765 Bass music shows going down in MTL each week (give or take) and so I try to promote sparingly, reserving praise for the really real. Cartel Thursdays, last mentioned here when bringing in Appleblim, have become favorites of mine, presenting an alternative to the more straight-forward and aggressive sounds going on. Still an underground event, the night offers a spacious dance floor, cheap(ish) drinks, comfortable couches, a dark vibe and most importantly, badman DJs. A little birdie told me they're [...]
In the first of a series of dubstep mixes we bring you a chilled out set designed to ease you into this cold time of year. The mix begins with Three Sided Shape, one of the best songs from Scuba's Triangulation LP- contender for this years dubstep record of the year. Other highlights include new tracks from Jack Sparrow, Doc Daneeka and a brilliant remix of Commix's Change by A Made Up Sound who flips the drum n bass track into a dubtechno roller. To finish up with we have Ranadanman's amazing reinterpretation of Jamie Woon's Night Air- a beautifully [...]
