Magrudergrind and Nails both released great records last year and the new Wormrot songs matched my high hopes for Dirge. Rotten Sound's Curse is a loud record. No one can deny that. They have the speedy blast beats, vocals, and guitar riffs every grindcore band should have. However, this LP loses a lot of potential energy in its extremely regulated recording. I know the in-the-moment sound bands like Terrorizer and Napalm Death had is a thing of the past, but even Pig Destroyer is a lot less scheduled than this band. The high-gloss finish on this production and the impressive musicianship will make this album entertaining for a lot of people, which is fine. That's just not what [...]

Thanks to the good people at Lambgoat, Rotten Sound's sixth album is up for streaming. Cursed is a pretty unforgiving grindcore record, loaded with a whirlwind of drums and distorted bass. The one shining ray of light in this pit of despair is the high-gloss production on this LP. However, it doesn't make the picture here any easier to look at. If anything, it only give the ugliness of this album more clarity. Look for this album on Relapse records .

Rotten Sound headlined the Camden Underworld with Trap Them and Gaza in support (plus The Kandidate and Haust but we ignored them). We reviewed the rest though!

Rotten Sound has been gracious enough to write an album with zero filler, so I will comply with a review in kind. From the first seconds of opening track "Alone", Cursed ( Relapse , 2011) demands you get up and move. Run a mile, chop down a tree, catch your breath during a breakdown, then punch your neighbor in the face. Songs have two speeds: artillery burst grind or death march groove.
