for some reason i found myself listening to this today. this being 802s for this comp known as c81. the rest of this post is exactly what i wrote when i posted this back in 08. c81 was compiled by nme journalist roy carr and rough trade pr dude christopher rose for the 5th anniversary of independent label movement in the uk and of course to show off rough trades wares. more info can be found here , via wikipedia. there's some real awesome stuff here, there are a few turds too. but of course what might be pure [...]
Shit And Shine's music might sound like a pain-inducing endurance test put out by a group that clearly isn't shy of a little shocktatic publicity. But that doesn't stop it being both engrossingly addictive and, rather surprisingly, the leading candidate in the contest for the music that most perceptively captures the zeitgeist of today's Britain. Because Shit And Shine's aggressive, repetitive, warped and distorted riffs and beats do not even hint at any suggestion of narrative or story-telling and make no attempt whatsoever to engage with the listener intellectually. [...]

Well, unless you were avoiding the internet or didn't bother getting up over the past week or so, you're probably aware that The Strokes are set to release their fourth LP on March 22nd. If there was ever a highly anticipated record, it would have to be this one, arriving a little over 5 years after the release of the band's last LP, First Impressions of Earth. Initial details of the release were broken by Rolling Stone , and were confirmed by singer Julian Casablancas on his Twitter [...]

Having previously announced the US release date of their brand new album as March 22, The Strokes have confirmed that their fourth record, Angels , will be released in the UK on March 21 via Rough Trade . 'Under Cover of Darkness if definitely set to be the first single taken from the below track listing. 1. Machu Picchu 2. Under Cover of Darkness 3. Two Kinds of Happiness 4. You're So Right 5. Taken For A Fool 6. Games 7. Call Me Back 8. [...]
As first shows go, Solar Bears had a good one. The deserved hype surrounding these ambient noisemakers from Wicklow translates live into beautiful soundscapes and shifting beats. In just over thirty minutes they run through a selection of tracks from their debut record She Was Coloured In to an appreciative but mostly motionless crowd. There's a shyness in the retro synth-admiring duo when they thank the crowd that is charming especially after seeing the confidence and strength with which they perform. Out of the record shop and into the right setting, these guys [...]

Listening to an album by The Decemberists is a bit like reading a good novel. Not only does frontman Colin Meloy continually challenge the listener with clever language and deft wordplay, but the songs often tell an involved story involving characters you can't help but care about, especially on their last two highly-conceptual records, The Crane Wife and The Hazards Of Love . The band has intentionally scaled things back on their lovely new album, The King Is Dead , focusing instead on simple song structures and a more acoustic based sound akin to [...]

Bowlegs often harks back to the earlier Decemberists' records – before everything became a little bloated, before the tracks stretched over miles of conceptual greenery – of earthy attitude and reels of infectious song-writing. Admittedly the Portland band never relinquished their grasp of a good melody, whatever else fell by the roadside. 'The King is Dead' is not the group in concept mode, in fact this could be their simplest set of songs yet. Each and every track digs into the folk laden land they have inhabited many times before, only this time they are going for the [...]

This July will mark ten years of British Sea Power as recording artists. Given what they've come up with in that time it seems unlikely that they'd make it this far with reputation continuously enhanced. Rare is the band, especially in Britain, who can continuously increase their standing over a full decade having marked themselves out with coteries of eclectic musical running mates, stages decorated in foliage and stuffed birds, and an extended semi-improvised freakout as a set closer marked by rigging climbing and crash gymnastics. Ten years of Czech-only releases, The Copper Family support slots, WWI uniforms [...]

There aren't many bands out of the mainstream that can claim the kind of loyal support that British Sea Power have. The Brighton band's fans are devoted to the music. Perhaps it's because they know what they're going to get. Five albums down the line and the band haven't really deviated from the blueprints set out on 2003's debut, 'The Decline of British Sea Power'. It's the U2 school of setting your stall out early and keeping it there come hell or high water. It's the Oasis book of sticking to what you know. And there's nothing really wrong with [...]
A couple of weeks ago the British quintet graced us with the first new music from their upcoming album "Valhalla Dancehall". Now we have a video to accompany the upbeat and brazen song, featuring the band wearing blue lipstick, some MILFs wearing different coloured lipstick and having bubbles blown in their face and doing things backwards. Not only does this song get better the more you listen to it, but I think they've been listening to some GOBBLE GOBBLE . Connect with British Sea Power - Twitter | MySpace [...]
If you're an avid NME reader, a food enthusiast, or anyone who regularly scopes the internet, then I'm sure you've heard about Warpaint one way or another. If not, I will gladly try my best to educate you on the worldly virtues of this LA-based, Psychedelic/Shoegaze quartet. Emily Kokal (vocalist/guitar) met Theresa Wayman (vocals/guitar) while [...]

Dentro [...]
I've spoken on here before of my love for British Sea Power and how I came to find them by chance in a second hand record shop in Edinburgh. So I won't do that again, but I can't promise I won't do it again sometime in the future. Truth is, to me, BSP can't do a whole lot wrong, even when they suck. Yeah, they've done a few things that sucked, but they're some of the most passionate musicians around and have been since their inception, putting on a live show to remember, so even being filled to [...]

Anytime an opportunity comes along to sing the praises of British Sea Power, I run with it. It's shameful how time and time again these guys get neglected on this side of the Atlantic in favour of the dreck that passes itself off as "indie" here like most bands that refer to animals in their name. Hopefully you've all had the chance to check out the recently released Zeus EP and marvel at how writing such lovely melodies is almost second nature to these guys. The EP serves as a perfect preview to what's in store in the [...]

Después de un EP (con dos versiones) el 'Exquisite Corpse' publicado en el 2009, pero grabado en el 2007!!!
