Tweet Singer/violinist/percussion enthusiast Roxy Rawson drew a fair bit of buzz around her debut EP "Changing Things" back in 2009, along with a few not unwarranted comparisons to Regina Spektor . After a couple of years gigging in London, she's got a new single to share with us: "Fingers". "Fingers" was apparently conceived when Roxy was 'pondering the answer to our earthly existence' while looking over London from Parliament Hill. Weighty origins, but the song starts lightly enough, with nothing more than Roxy's [...]

Roxy Rawson is a classically trained singer-songwriter based in London. "Fingers" from her forthcoming debut album Quenching the Kill (September) fits easily into her label as "UK's answer to Regina Spektor." Listen to a few more songs of hers on Pledge Music . Roxy Rawson is classically-trained Londoner armed with a violin, a delightfully quirky way with melody and an effervescent voice that darts and flits with happy, eccentric abandon. She draws a little flower shaped like a six-pointed star on the back of a popcorn bag. Her eyelids are a little pink. Roxy Rawson - Riddle It (mp3) Roxy Rawson - Philanthropy (mp3)
Roxy Rawson - Riddle It Roxy Rawson could be Andrew Bird's younger, female equuivalent. She was raised in a Mormon community in Hitchin, trained in piano and violin at a Paris conservatoire, and is currently overflowing with the kind of quirky pop songs that are certain to develop a cult following. This track is infectious...now if only I could understand what she's saying. Roxy Rawson's debut EP, Changing Things , was released last month.
