Roy G and the Biv, the indie house duo have covered Rockwell's 80's classic Somebody's Watching Me. Honestly I can't put it better than them so ill leave you with their words of wisdom. "Nowadays people get T-Pain or Lil' Wayne to sing the hook on their song, but Rockwell got the frigging King of Pop. We couldn't quite afford Michael Jackson but we had fun with it. Crank it at your Halloween parties and have a ghast."

dl: ROY G AND THE BIV - Socks On ( Z ) ------------------------------ ------------------------------ -------- ------- I don't even understand how Roy G and the Biv have the audacity to be this awesome. From the first few seconds of "Jungle Fever", I was hooked because I half expected Pusha T or Malice of the Clipse to bust out with a verse. When the vocals came in, I felt [...]

Only a few days up to Halloween, Denton electronic dance pop duo Roy G and the Biv pitched their cover of Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me" for download. Ignore T-Pain or Lil' Wayne to sing hooklines on their song, Rockwell is still the frigging King of Pop. Crank that at your Halloween parties and have a ghast! It's a smooth version, but quite funny-dark. In Addition, Roy G and the Biv released their self titled 5-song EP back in September and have it streaming in it's entirety on the space . Mp3: [...]

To celebrate Halloween being just around the corner, long-time blog favourites Roy G and the Biv have covered Rockwell' s one hit wonder Somebody's Watching Me . The chorus on the original was sung by a then height-of-his-career Michael Jackson and his brother Jermaine (of whom Rockwell's sister was married to at the time). I'm of the school of thought that anything MJ should not be touched (musical or otherwise), with Fall Out Boy's cover of Beat It! as a prime example [...]

I love finding great bands that no one has heard of yet. It makes me feel exclusive. I fantasize about being an actual A&R rep, signing them, becoming famous together and living happily ever after at the top. But alas, I am just a lowly blogger so all I can offer is mp3s and kind words of enthusiasm and praise. A friend from recently passed along a duo from Denton, Texas named Roy G and the Biv . Being a design nerd, I immediately loved them based on their name alone (for those of you who don't [...]

Yesterday saw the online release of Roy G and the Biv's self titled EP, something I've been looking forward to since I first posted about them here . It doesn't disappoint. Lazy comparisons would put them somewhere in between Ghosthustler and Ghostland Observatory but these guys offer something different, something more. With elements of R&B, Electro, Snyth-pop and Hip-hop, it's a bit of an ensemble peice, which encapsulates the duo's talents perfectly and is a great platform for them to show the true diversity of their [...]

It's no secret to regular readers of this blog that I'm a sucker for a tune that sounds like it could easily be from some seedy 80's roller disco or from the outer realms of space, this time it's from two US students who go by the inspired name... Roy G and the BIV . Texans Max Townsley and Drew Erickson are the multi-instrumentalists behind the music, which reminds me slightly of Chromeo , except actually good. I'm a big fan of artists who are unafraid to embrace a genuine [...]
