This week we have an underground classic. Royal Trux were a late 80's/early 90's cult band. They built a solid fanbase touring with acts like Sonic Youth. The band was known for noisy, clattery garage rock which at times bordered on unlistenable. However, we haven't seen anything from the band since about 2002. So my question this week is: whatever happened to Royal Trux?

Oh, Batman. For the World's Greatest Detective , you've sure swallowed a load of shit. Comic Book Resources has another interview up with Christian Bale where the actor talks about how the movies he makes with Chris Nolan are true to Batman "creator" Bob Kane's vision. "I feel like we've kind of gone back to its roots, when I've spoken with friends of Bob Kane, relatives, they've said, 'No, he meant this to be a very dark character.' He always viewed what Adam West did so well [positively], but he was spoofing [...]
Hello. I am Patrick. I became involved with Half Machine Records at the end of last year, helping out wherever possible and dressing slightly less preppy than Richard. I can't remember which, of the many sunday newspapers my family used to read, had decided to run an article on how Royal Trux spent a considerable amount of their record advance on acid, heroin and fur. It was detailed enough for my Dad to develop a considerable amount of dislike for the band and questioned why I would waste my money (his at the time) [...]
No Doctors Genre: Psychedelic / Experimental / Rock Genre: San Francisco, Oakland, California Experimental San Franciscans No Doctors are back with their third album of clattering avant rock, the self released 'Origin & Tectonics' . The album is a swirling dervish of a record, an unsettling cacophony of distorted guitar riffs, squalls of saxaphone and disembodied vocals. It's like overhearing Pere Ubu [...]
This one has to be quick because I have a busy afternoon and evening. Whatever. Here's the news: - American kids are dumber than dirt, or so this piece in SFGate says. The high school teacher who provides quotes from the article isn't ashamed to call his students "overprotected and wussified," and state that they "don't spend enough time outdoors and don't get any real exercise, and therefore can't, say, identify basic plants, or handle a tool, or build, well, anything at all." Although I haven't written about it recently, talking about the dumbing-down of America was a [...]

Jim Corrigan is a tough-as-nails police detective. He is also the Spectre, an undead angel of vengeance. He may seem unhappy with his lot, but approaches his ordained task with great creativity. Great creativity. Bottom line: Don't fuck with the Spectre. [...]

Royal Trux- The Sewers of Mars It should come as no surprise to those familiar with Neil Hagerty that he came off as a jerk to a journalist in this recent interview. It's part of his madcap charm, I suppose. He and his current band, Howling Hex, are in my town Saturday night. I've only bothered to see the guy perform once, with Royal Trux, in Toronto, and that was probably
The following three songs are the centerpiece of a mix cd that I compiled over the course of the weekend. I'm a bit out of practice when it comes to creating mixes. I used to make them for people all the time, but this site has generally replaced/upgraded/expanded my impulse to select and share songs with people, and I now reserve carefully sequenced mix making for special occasions, and for special people. Don't even bother to ask what the full tracklisting for the mix is, or for your own copy -- though it's not designed as one of those "every [...]
