In an era of overwhelming homogenisation Melbourne's Rudely Interrupted certain corner a previously unregistered angle. I won't go into because you can read what it is via pretty much every other dispatch about the band. Besides before I altavista'd them I couldn't help falling for the direct hit that is 'Close My Eyes'. I mean here is a tune that is the distillation of what we all have in our head but never get around to recording, genius. At less than 2 and a half minutes it sure packs a lot in and in the process sets the stage for [...]
Any time at all!Rudely Interrupted - Close My Eyes mp3Their name sounds slightly hardcore, but their music sounds quite the opposite. We previously posted excellent tuneage by this Melbourne band and love it still. The mp3 links there are no longer working, but you can purchase the songs, plus others, very reasonably at Amazon and eMusic. Those of you up Canada-way can catch them this week in
Rudely Interrupted is truly a special band from Australia. For example, they were the first band to ever play at the United Nations. What truly makes them special is that five of six of the band members have some sort of mental or physical disability (such as Blindness, Deafness, Autism and Down Syndrome). Some even have both. For example the bands frontman Rory Burnside was born without eyes, and has Asperger's syndrome. Nothing ever got in the way of them performing as Rudely Interrupted. In June they will be touring America in support of their debut album, [...]
Is it just me or our Friday Mixtapes getting better by the week? I mean, for example, this week features the likes of Delta Spirit, Underworld, Yo La Tengo, Menomena, Passion Pit, Cold Cave, Toro Y Moi, and MacGruber'er Kristen Wiig. It doesn't get much better than that! Ok, so maybe it does, but that's for another week to prove. In the meantime, enoy the mix below. As always, it includes the best new mix of singles, remixes, and covers, along with mp3s from some up-and-comers you might want to check out. NEW Singles: [...]

On Tuesday night, I attended the show that I had contested out a few weeks ago at Sneaky Dee's featuring two of the most talked about local bands on the scene today as well as an Australian import that truly is one of the most unique acts that I've ever seen. Rudely Interrupted were right smack dab in the middle of an incredible rock 'n roll experience, one that I'm sure band mentor and musical director Rohan Brooks never anticipated when he formed the band as part of a [...]

Toronto - T'was first sentence I said before this concert began: "Last year this time I was listening to Steward McLean's stories, watching snow flakes sway and swirl against moon- and sodium-lamp light with a cup of joe...". In polar opposite to that warm and fuzzy picture, the weather yesterday was as despicable as my mood. Toronto 's infamous fog-rain set in so my umbrella was useless, slushies on the ground threatened my feet hygiene, dwindling numbers of pedestrians on Bathurst reminded me that people are [...]

I got a note from Musebox recently about a show they're putting together on Dec. 9th in Toronto. Rudely Interrupted , a 6 person band from Australia, are touring to North American to perform at the UN in New York for Disability Day on December 3rd. Of the 6 members of the band, 5 members share a range of disabilities from autism, blindness to down syndrome. Musically speaking, they describe themselves as " Joy Division having a Gary Numan Party while eating pitch-perfect cookies ". The show looks to be a fun night, with local [...]
Florence and the Machine, one of London's most talked about new talents, will be releasing her second single in America on December 2nd. Called "Dog Days Are Over", the song was produced by James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco and Last Shadow Puppets (also producer for Arctic Monkeys) and the b-side is a cover of "You Got The Love" by The Source feat Candi Staton. The song's already been added to BBC Radio 1 and select radio stations around the US, coming off a successful run of shows at Glastonbury, Reading, Leads, Bestival and others, as well as an earlier [...]

by roko flip Here are some tracks from last week's emails. It's a hit or miss sampler ranging from ambient to hip hop. I had varied mind states during song selection. So check out more music we didn't post on (until now). I dig this track by Rudely Interrupted . The indie band from Australia will be performing a live afternoon show December 3rd at [...]

Rudely Interrupted - Don't Break My Heart EP In the early 80's, many talented bands found themselves at a serious disadvantage with the rise of music video requiring them to engage a certain look if they wanted to enjoy a measure of success. This was unfortunate and, perhaps more importantly, very unfair in the sense that many good artists were tossed aside simply because they didn't have the supermodel good looks of Duran Duran or the quirky sexiness of The Go'Go's . Thankfully, it appears [...]

Rudely Interrupted Genre: Indie / Other From: Melbourne, Victoria Australia Melbourne's Rudely Interrupted are an indie six piece band with a fine line in hooks as large as an oil tankers anchor and as infectious as bird flu in an aviary. If you take the best melodies from the 60's, the [...]
