After previously covering the track on tour, Brooklyn-based indie outfit Oberhofer drop the official audio for their Kanye West cover of "Runaway". Adding a bit of spunk, the lead vocalist puts a raw spin on the hip-hop ballad. Oberhofer's latest album Time Capsules II is out now.

Oberhofer has covered Kanye's "Runaway" before, but they've finally released an official recording for their sprawling rendition. Oberhofer doesn't quite convey the stark honesty and feeling Kanye does, but the song's solemn piano ballad chords reimagined as muggy shoegaze is a nice touch. When I heard that awful cover of The Suburbs made it into the triple j Hottest 100, I was all like 'wuh?' Then I heard this and I was all like 'woah'. If any electro-pop babes beat this effort in 2012, hats off. I am officially a Little Jeans convert, I look forward to singing her praises into the forseeable future.

Been waiting on this one for awhile. Mr. Little Jeans is one of those mysterious acts that exploded on the scene with a big track/EP ( see "Faking Gold" which we found via RCRD LBL and Neon Gold,) only to disappear...disappearance could be due to a multitude of reasons: lack of album plan, promo, and or music.
