I was going to post this a long time ago but then one way or another it's buried in the depth of unfinished draft post... but here we go, High City Express by Midnight Runners (not to be confused with Midnight Runner . Ha.) As usual they managed to deliver another classy retro track. Can't resist moving my feet a little from that lead synth.

In September of 2010, the world (well, the UK) watched as a jittery Worcestershire-born girl named Cher Lloyd strolled across the stage-suited in a a fitted black jacket and shredded white jeans-to audition for the X Factor . After a brief grilling by the judges regarding her name and age ("You look more!" Louis Walsh exclaimed after learning she was only 16 years old), Lloyd announced she'd be performing ( Keri Hilson 's cover of) Soulja Boy 's "Turn My Swag On." And then she opened her mouth to sing. [...]
A new track from Dante , aka Dante Kinnunen of The Concretes . Look for his solo debut to be released in early 2012 via Baseline Music .

The Phantom Runners recently stopped by BBC Introducing to perform tunes, "Not The Same Without You" and "Hope". "Not The Same Without You" has an eerily, catchy sound similar to "The Drums". The verses are quite sweet and memorable. "Hope" is exactly what the title says, a hopeful ode to keep a relationship together. Really vastly different tracks, that show off the immense talent and diversity this band has to offer. BBC Introducing Session by thephantomrunners

Not even a year old and The Phantom Runners have come out firing. Get your guns up, Rihanna Navy! Our fearless leader, Princess RiRi, took to Twitter on Sunday to announce that her Avril Lavigne -sampling, The Runners -produced ode to the freakin' weekend will act as the seventh (!) overall single from her 2010 album, LOUD . Late last night, Lady Fenty tweeted the gorgeous single art, featuring a very "Only Girl"-esque Ri looking splendorous while standing atop of the driver's seat of her sexy ride. (Is it a Mercedes? Boom boom, bay-beh? I don't know cars...) [...]
I don't think anyone saw this coming: a new album from Dexy's Midnight Runners . Except they're not called Dexy's Midnight Runners any more; nor are they going to be Kevin Rowland And Dexy's Midnight Runners, as they were for a spell. Oh, no. This is 2012, and Dexys are Dexys. It's true, as there's been a tweet: "Dexys new album. Can't really say why, because it's hard to put down to any one thing, but it's working - it's early days, but so far so good." There had been a reunion tour [...]
While we wait for T.I. to end his latest incarceration he himself decides to release a new track called 'We Don't Get Down Like Y'all' (buy here) featuring B.o.B along with the following words via his site: "What up world? As promised to all the fans and supporters who've been writing me and tweeting saying [...]

AND THUS, THE ALMIGHTY LLOYD DID SO PROCLAIMETH: "THOU SHALT NOT BE A SWAGGER JAGGER." After months of waiting since her untimely cast-off from X Factor UK in December, legendary 17-year-old swaggerific sensation Cher Lloyd returns to the forefront with the debut single from her upcoming album, "Swagger Jagger." The song, which is said to be produced by The Runners and due for release next week (June 20), leaked in full early Wednesday morning. "Swagger Jagger" is a bananas [...]

Yeah, the name is hella familiar and you know damn well this isn't Baby's first time discussing the 02s in his bank account. But the brand is Cash Money Records and they're going to talk their shitnanny until the IRS boys come for the full monty. Reworking the wheel of fortune one more 'gan for the Big Pop's Bigger Than Life , T-Pain screams, Weezy is on lean and Mack Maine is clearing checks in the mean...time. Make it rain green, trick! Birdman Feat. T-Pain, Mack [...]

Kevin Cossom could somewhat be confused with a Jason Derülo but only after listening to him you know he brings something else to the table. The guy really is an R&B bomb waiting to explode. Three new tracks have surfaced from the singer. "My Love" is produced by The Runners . A nice midtempo cut with a nice melody and outer-space sound effects. Download audio file (My-Love.mp3) "On and On" is produced by Danja . We already heard the chemistry these [...]

Say what you will about Ricky Rozay , but no one can accuse him of not breaking bread with his knights at his round table. Torch, 1/3 of the Triple C's, has been patiently waiting for his time to explode and the Bawse has given him the green Martian light with his UFO project. Everybody knows aliens don't come through the hood so instead, Yo Gotti, Busta Rhymes, Boi-1da, Pusha T and plenty more help Torch make crop circles on the blacktop. M-m-m-m-Maybach Music! [...]

Octopus, Amplifier's sprawling double disc opus and third LP proper, is as ambitious a record as 2011 is likely to see, despite having been released to fans over the wires of the world wide web late on last year. Two discs harnessing over two hours of genre-obliterating, transcendental rock, the Manchester trio seem to have little desire to pander to "indie" heirlooms any time soon... Opener The Runner kickstarts proceedings in as visceral and groggy a fashion as an oil slick, sounding akin to the seabed drawing forever closer to a gargantuan rotary blade capable [...]

The last week or so has been absolutely sensational for gigs in Glasgow. Some i did make, some i didn't make and one got cancelled altogether. Over the course of 6 days from the Tuesday (14th December) to Sunday (the 19th) there were some pretty amazing shows performed and played throughout Glasgow and it's various musical locations. Below i've compiled a list of the best gigs and included MP32s (where available), videos and links. The week should have began with Civil Civic but they sadly had to cancel their gig at The 13th Note last Monday. But since [...]
