Rush will return on June 12th with their first album in five years, and 20th to date. Entitled Clockwork Angels , the 12-track effort was recorded between April 2010 and the fall of 2011 with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Deftones). The album's lead single, "Headlong Flight", will be released on April 19th. According to a press release, the album "chronicles a young man's quest across a lavish and colorful world of steampunk and alchemy as he attempts to follow his dreams. In preparation of Redial's upcoming album, there would be joy all over the world today, Redial returns and gives something back to his loyal fanbase, the original Redial sound that many many fans fell in love with, his inspiring orchestrated synth that has influence the likes of F.O.O.L, Ugly Kids, Barretso and many more, including us. The harder edge 'kavinsky' influenced synth is exactly what we wanted to hear today, for the long time fans like us, and we are positive many will also share the same thoughts here. This composition will be featured in his [...]

Filed under: News , Exclusive , The Hit List Robin Marchant, Getty Images Easter gets the most mainstream attention with its bunnies and its chocolate eggies and such, but it's not the only religious holiday going down this time of year. This weekend also marks Passover, the Jewish holiday and festival that celebrates the ancient Israelites and their freedom from slavery in Egypt, as detailed in Exodus (the book of the bible, not the movie starring Paul [...]
The Brooklyn band took a Casbah crowd down the rabbit hole // Follow Owl and Bear on Facebook and Twitter for contests, MP3s, and links that don't make it onto the blog.

I spoke with a college buddy last week. He had called days earlier to inform me that a young drummer friend of his was moving to town. I'm old enough to know better than to let him follow me home. Years ago, I spent twelve months or so managing a band. (and actually managed to get a label to offer them a deal) Not long after meeting them, the drummer crashed on the couch in the house where I was living. Within a couple weeks, he was living on that couch. [...]

Koss headphones and a porn star mustache got the chicks every time. Way back in the dark ages (the 1970s) I'd heard that a few albums sounded really great on headphones. Well, my parents had a stereo but we didn't have headphones. They cost about $12 apiece then, which in today's dollars would likely be a monthly mortgage payment. So I borrowed a couple of albums from my good friend Randy Fuller and took 'em home to experience "true stereo." My homemade headphones substitute was putting two stereo [...]

No, I'm totally kidding. Morello hates Limbaugh, obvs. Right on the heels of Rush (the band, not the dude) claiming they'll sue the conservative pundit if he doesn't stop using their music on his program without the band's permission, Tom Morello has decided to kinda-sorta do the same thing in retaliation of Limbaugh's use of [...]
Marilyn Manson - "No Reflection" Motörhead added to Mayhem festival line up The Mars Volta - "Zed And Two Naughts" Release date set for new Rush album Garbage release tour dates

If what Amazon.com says is true, then we're getting a brand new Rush album this May. The website says that Rush's long awaited album, Clockwork Angels , will be released on May 29th in North America. This will be the band's first album since 20072s Snakes & Arrows . We've already had sneak peeks of the album; the band released two tracks, "BU2B" and "Caravan," digitally but have reportedly been re-recorded for Clockwork Angels due to a record label change as the band [...]
It's logical for professional sack of shit/radio ranter Rush Limbaugh to think that sex is gross and shameful: Each of his four sexual experiences must've been a real horror show, what with all the flab and feces and corpsestink. So yeah, we can see why he'd slam law student/activist Sandra Fluke, who argued before a [...]
Filed under: News , Politics as Usual Getty Images Canadian prog rockers Rush share their name with a certain right-wing American radio personality , but that doesn't mean they share his values. After learning that Rush Limbaugh had used its song 'The Spirit of the Radio' during his recent rant against Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke -- a woman he called a "slut" and "prostitute" for supporting mandated [...]
Filed under: News , Awards Ethan Miller, Getty Images Canadian rock trio Rush are up $25,000 and one commemorative medallion after receiving a Governor General's Performing Arts Award. The award is the most prestigious of its kind in Canada and has honoured outstanding work within the arts for over 20 years. Rush and other recipients -- Janina Fialkowska, Paul-André Fortier, Denis Marleau, Deepa Mehta and Mary Walsh -- were announced Tuesday in [...]
The year's edition of the SXSW Film Festival is not quite as metal friendly as last year's version. Of course, it's hard to top a Pentagram documentary, a Fishbone documentary, Fubar II: Balls To The Wall, and Hesher. That doesn't mean, however, that this year's fest won't not have a few somethings that will appeal [...]

If so, you've glimpsed into the alternate reality that unfolds in the forthcoming steampunk novel from sci-fi author Kevin J. Anderson.
In order to pay for their most recent album Foolish Croon , Chicago dance rockers Blane Fonda took to Kickstarter. Donors came through for the band and Blane Fonda is showing their gratitude by releasing videos featuring selected cover songs. The latest is a blistering version of Rush's "Tom Sawyer." The band does a fairly decent rendition of the song with singer Mark Wetzel able to capture Geddy Lee's vocal inflections. The video also comes equipped with a big American flag in the background and a bald eagle. Since Rush is from Canada, [...]
To me, nothing is as fully sweet like pop music played heavy and with controlled virtuosity. It's like a famous master chef whipping up simple, delicious hot dogs for my face; it seems foolish to abandon such classic fare to high-volume/low-margin assembly lines, right? Hence my devotion to the jamz of Rush, Bay Area thrash, [...]
