Our second day on Randall's island was hotter and more hectic than the first. With a massive influx of concertgoers and a slew of big name progressive headliners, Saturday at Electric Zoo finally embodied the "zoo" aesthetic. All tents were packed to the brim with energetic fans, braving the heat and humidity to see their favorite acts. Whatever else is said about Rusko, he is undoubtedly one of the most influential producers in the recent history of dubstep. For better or worse, he and fellow noise-merchant Caspa are largely responsible for the direction that dubstep took in the past five years. Moving across to the Hilltop Arena on Day 2, we see a lineup of artists that range from young acts with digital/viral fan bases, to the middle of the pack performers, building steam as mainstay names of electronic music, to the savvy festival veterans, where Electric Zoo is a guaranteed circle of the calendars. Rusko has been on a tear in the past year, releasing his track "Everyday" on Diplo's Mad Decent label and gallivanting all over the world as he explores new musical terrain in the studio. The dubstep pioneer launched his first-ever residency two weeks ago at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, and his team kindly shared some video of the night.
