Today, a surprising turn of events took place within the music blog circuit and the EDM community. Renowned Swedish house producer Avicii's follow-up single to last year's ubiquitous anthem "Levels" was named 'Best New Track' by the governing force in indie music, Pitchfork. With the exception of their recent Skrillex interview , this is the first time Pitchfork has favourably acknowledged "mainstream" electronica. While they were early supporters of electronic artists such as James Blake , SBTRKT , Grimes , and Rustie , up until now, Pitchfork has been quite ignorant towards the more accessible [...]

(This blog post is written by Mark FAUX, and while at first glance it might seem like it's all about the Lucky Me collective, it's really just Mark finding another way to big up Hudmo. This is a good thing.) Some of the best music to come out of the UK in the last few years has come out of Glasgow . The Lucky Me collective has produced musical prodigies like Hudson Mohawke and Rustie (both releasing on the mighty Warp [...]

My love for Juicy J knows no bounds. Credit to Rustie for including this gem in his top tier contribution to Essential Mix ; definitely get that in if you haven't gotten to it yet. Juicy J - Geeked Up Off Them Bars (probably a rip, sorry)
I've been quiet on the blogscene for a bit, but it doesn't mean I've been absent from music. I pop in and out occasionally to see what is going on, sometimes it sounds like the same Ol' noise but every once in awhile I hear something new again. Every once in awhile there is some hot new sounds backed by creative individuals, that are responsible for spinning the musical axis in another direction. Just every once in awhile *wink. Anyways, check out this Essential mix by Rustie done for BBC and let me know [...]
Up and coming Glasgow producer, Rustie , has been steadily tearing electronic music a new one since his 2011 release of Glass Swords on veritable electronica label Warp Records . With his " maximalist " often cavernous production the producer has caught the ears of major players in the EDM scene from scene defining taste makers like Diplo to Luxury Trap icons Vavlt Boyz . So it's only fitting that Rustie popped by BBC 1 radio and dropped one of the best mixes I've heard so far this year. This essential mix is an immense 2 hour smorgasbord of [...]

Scottish youngster Rustie is setting out on a five stop North American tour kicking off May 15th The tour coincides with his recent BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix that notched an impressive 8.1 score over at Pitchfork (stream below)! His debut album 'Glass Swords' is still making waves and rounded out the year with a #2 on XLR82s 'Best Albums of 20112 and 'Best First Albums' over at The Guardian . Rustie North American Tour Dates 5/15 @ Santos [...]

Rustie Essential Mix, BBC Radio 4/7/12 Pretty awesome way to ride into the weekend, Rustie appeared last weekend on BBC Radio One with his Essential Mix. If you're not familiar with the Sunburst, Glass Swords, or Ultra Thizz , you weren't paying much attention to Bass music last year. OR you were just paying attention to the wrong shit. Hey, don't blame me, it ain't my fault. Full Post : Rustie: Essential Mix

Essential Mix's from BBC Radio 1 is an international treasure hosted by Pete Tong for almost twenty years that takes some of the most cutting edge artists for two hours with their favorite tunes/mixes. I've never heard an Essential Mix like Rustie's to the point where I'm at a loss for words. Rustie is hustlin' his album, "Glass Swords," off of one of the best labels in the land, Warp, and will be hitting the road for a small North American Tour. Rustie Tour Dates North [...]
One of the best new producers to emerge in the past few years, Rustie , has released a near two hour mix for BBC Radio , all of which you can stream below. The massive mix features familiar voices of Kanye West and Drake , alongside Legend of Zelda samples if you can cue in on them.
The little man from Glasgow who has been putting Warp Records on his back lately took over the Radio 1 studios a few fridays ago and put on a show worthy of mix of the year contention. I'm of course talking about the Scottish prodigy, Rustie . The mix was truly a showcase in where the trap, minimal, downtempo and bass music genres are heading for fusion, and featured some brand new material from Hudson Mohawke , Dorian Concept , Surkin and Rustie himself. He's gained some notoriety for some of the biggest [...]
