Work has left me unbelievably tired, so this post will be short. As a huge fan of the Rx Bandits, I feel compelled to post anything and everything related to them on this website. The latest to come from the RxB camp is Love You Moon, the solo project of Rx Bandits' vocalist/guitarist Matt Embree. If you've ever been to a RxB show, you know that Embree, along with everybody else in the band, is a very accomplished musician who possesses fantastic improvisational abilities and can shred like none other. Love You Moon showcases another side of the accomplished musician. [...]

Matthew Embree's brave singing voice is the strength of Love You Moon's new album, Waxwane . It starts off with an in-your-face acoustic track, and the record evolves into a more delicate, complex animal. The most drastic change comes midway through, where Embree shows his versatility as a vocalist by following up his onslaught gritty blues singing with softer melodies. The latter half of the album is an amalgam of the separated elements of the album's first half. Lyrically, the songs are filled with ardent color. Political, societal, and romantic subjects are the [...]
Throw on this record and it's going to be the furthest thing from pop music you've heard in a long time. The name of the band, The Sound of Animals Fighting, already evokes thoughts of quick, rapid and harsh images whereas the title of the album, The Ocean And The Sun, conjures up mental pallets [...]

RX BANDITS PORTUGAL. THE MAN [...]
Like sands through the hourglass, these are the Dallas music-related videos uploaded to Youtube this weekend... Alas, there are no videos of our DOMA Showcase up on Youtube yet (we'll have a slideshow up shortly here, though). But--shocker--apparently there were other shows this weekend aside from ours! Here's what they looked like... Tilly and the Wall played the Granada on Wednesday night. Aside from the general adorable aesthetic this band brings to the table, you'll also notice that the band has no drummer--just a tap dancer on a box. The good news [...]

Progressive punk ruffians, RX Bandits are out and about for the entire summer; headlining their very own US tour with Portugal the Man and Maps and Atlases . The whole procession promises to be an artsy, alternative bouquet of emerging talent. They come our mid-Atlantic way in July and they hit our new friends in San Francisco in August. 7/29: The Ottobar, Baltimore, MD 7/30: TLA, Philadelphia, PA 8/18: Slim's, San Francisco, CA mp3 : In Her Drawer

<br The RX Bandits have been rocking hard and blowing people's minds with their live performance for years. The band is finally getting some of the rewards and attention it deserves, like a spot on 2007's Bonnaroo line-up. Performances like these have provided the band a chance to open the eyes of a whole different music crowd. The band's 2003 release Resignation rushed in like a storm. The band had decided to forego traditional recording styles and recorded the entire album live. The results were one of the most powerful [...]

From the depths of the Licorice Pizza mailbox comes tonight's post. I don't know much about these bands other than I like the music and you should too. And since I don't know a lot about these bands, I'm going to carefully cut and paste from their respective Web sites, then provide you linkage in case you want to learn more. Lazy? Maybe. But I think you'll appreciate me for this! Destroy Cowboy 1000 Candles.mp3 [...]

Ladies and gentlemen, i present to you the best live band on the planet: Rx Bandits . No i'm not kidding you. The one-time black sheep of emo-crap label Drive Thru Records have gradually been maturing their sound and their live show since their humble beginnings as a teenage ska band. They released their 4th studio album, ...And the Battle Begun , late last year on their own label, Mash Down Babylon , which was also their first since their Drive-Thru contract expired. i've now seen this band at least 6 times, maybe 7 or [...]

Update: I'm an idiot for not including mewithoutYou's Brother, Sister on this list. Beautiful album, beautiful lyrics. That is all. mewithoutYou - A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains It's February, and you know what that means: Best of 2006 lists! Yeah, I apologize for the very late posting of my favorite albums of last year, but I've had an ungodly amount of things to do in the past several weeks and am still not through with it. Nevertheless, I [...]

Another day, another best of list. You've heard from two of my co-contributors so now it's time for me to have a go. Here's what was pumping in my headphones in 2006. Comparatively speaking I guess it's a bit of an eccentric list, but these are honestly the albums which I've enjoyed the most over the past year. If you missed some of them I would strongly recommend checking these artists out. If you caught them and didn't enjoy them first time around, that's fine too! Diversity of opinion keeps the world interesting, and [...]
Happy f'n Halloween. And it is just that: a happy Halloween. Why? Becuase Rx Bandits are rocking the Axis tonight. They're amazing live. Don't miss this one. I, unfortunately will miss this one, because I am broke. I have a good (but only medicore quality) live version of their song "Only For The Night" off their latest release "...And the Battle Begun." So, if you can't make the show, just listen to this, and cry wishing you could. MP3: Rx Bandits - Only For The Night (Live) POSTED BY: Chris

If you would of talked to me about the Rx Bandits a couple years ago I would of shared the general misconception that most people have with the band. That would be that they are merely just another ska band, which is so entirely not true it’s not even funny. However, it took me far to long to realize this and sadly I’ve missed out on a chunk of Rx Bandits musical output. Thanks to a good friend of mine, I was subjected to their fourth album The [...]
Progressive socio-political ska band Rx Bandits have announced that they have left Drive-Thru Records, their home for the past nine years and four albums. The band will instead release their long-awaited new album, ...And The Battle Begun, through singer Matt Embree's MDB Records on Oct. 10. The band will also have copies of the album available on their upcoming summer tour . A second song from the album, "Crushing Destroyer," has been posted on the band's PureVolume page. The band previously posted "Only For The Night" on their MySpace page. [AP] [...]
