Last month we mentioned that David Lee Roth had dipped his toes into the world of social media by launching both a Facebook and Twitter account. There hasn't been much action as both to this date still have the same message to followers - "Get Ready…". As we've been waiting for some sort of follow-up to just what that statement meant, it's looking like the Grammy Foundation have let the cat out of the bag, as last week they sent out this rather obvious tweet - Who do [...]

We found out a nice tidbit of information this evening when Ryan Montbleau broke the news that he will be heading to New Orleans in May to record a new album with Crescent City musicians Ivan Neville, George Porter Jr. and Anders Osborne plus Simon Lott of The New Mastersounds. This supergroup will feature 'bleau and Anders on guitars, Neville on keys, Lott on drums with George holding things down on bass, aka a pretty bad ass lineup. In fact we suggest Pretty Bad Ass as a band name. [...]

Ryan Montbleau Band [Photo by Dave McWilliams ] A major change will take place with one of the hardest working bands in the scene as the Ryan Montbleau Band annouced violist Laurence Scudder will leave the group "to pursue other musical interests and take on the world as the rockingest violist around." The RMB will add guitarist Lyle Brewer to the fold. This marks the first change to the band's lineup in six years. [...]

Set to run from June 2-5 in Hunter Mountain, NY, the festival also features Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Avett Brothers, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, Mavis Staples, [...]

December 31st is the biggest night for live music of the year. An argument might be made for Halloween, but I'm not buying it. Your non-live-music-loving-friends don't say things like, "Halloween is the most anti-climactic day of the year" while you sit there and just snicker. We've been a little Phish heavy this week so let's take a look at how 24 other bands rang in 2011. Side Note: This was my first time using embedded images from setlist.fm and I must say it looks super slick. That site has really got it going on, [...]

As we saw our first snow flakes here in New York City yesterday, there is nothing that gets us through the winter faster and thinking about the warm months ahead, than the constant barrage of music festival lineup announcements. Last Friday, the fine folks behind Summer Camp revealed the first round of artists that will take to the stages and tents at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL next Memorial Day Weekend. Now in its 11th year, the jam-friendly festie will once again be [...]
Earlier this week, we ran HT Photo Editor Jeremy Gordon's recap and photos from what were thought to be The Radiators' last performances in New York City. Turns out the New Orleans-based band has one final throwdown in store for the Big Apple. The Rads' last NYC gig will take place at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square on June 3, 2011. Tickets are on-sale now through the band's ticketing service . Mick Jones and Paul Simonon at work [...]

Last week, HT faves the Ryan Montbleau Band put out Heavy On The Vine - the group's Martin Sexton-produced fourth studio album. Glide's Shane Handler spoke with singer/songwriter Ryan Montbleau not only about the album but about the band's recent tour with Sexton, his resilient nature and what it's like enter Dave Matthews' world. Here's an excerpt from Shane's interview with Ryan Montbleau... Has the acoustic guitar ever provided you any limitations in terms of storytelling or songwriting and [...]
Ryan Montbleau Band - Heavy On the Vine - September 21 - Blue's Mountain - Boston-based singer/songwriter and his soulful, slightly jammy folk/rock would sit well on Jack Johnson's Brushfire label: both share an affinity for the mellow, feel-good acoustic songs that tap into folky funk and world music. Heavy On the Vine makes for the ideal college bar playlist : enough energy to drown out the chatter but still with a cool, non-threatening -- and decidedly melodic -- vibe. With his laid back charisma [...]

moe.down 11 @ Gelston Castle, September 3 - 5 While some things have changed this year at the 11th annual moe.down , some things will always remain the same. From the mayor of moe.ville to Al.nouncements, it sometimes seems like the past ten years blended together, but this year the move an hour down the road to Gelston Castle in Mohawk, NY shook things up for even the most seasoned moe.ron. From amazing sound magnified by the natural amphitheater to the light show on stage enhanced by beautifully glowing lanterns and spectacular firework [...]
The Ryan Montbleau Band's next studio album, Heavy on the Vine, comes out on September 21st, but we don't have to wait that long to get a taste of what we can expect from the Martin Sexton-produced disc. Ryan has shared two "homemade" videos featuring live versions of songs from the album including this clip of Carry that was filmed on Martha's Vineyard... Ryan Montbleau - Carry While Ryan performs Carry solo acoustic, his band mates join him for an "in-the-van" version of My [...]
This week's videos feature bands you should check out at Bonnaroo … For his latest tour, troubador Martin Sexton has been backed by HT faves the Ryan Montbleau Band. Sexton and the RMB have been honing their show over the past few months and are should be in fine form when they hit The Other Tent at Bonnaroo starting at 1:30PM on Sunday afternoon. Martin Sexton w/ Ryan Montbleau Band - Failure
Well, my first Martin Sexton show was everything and more than I anticipated it to be. Not only were Martin and his backing Ryan Montbleau Band stellar, but none other than Nils Lofgren joined the band for entire second half of the show! Nils lives in Scottsdale, and I've always wondered if we'd ever cross paths. Last night, it happened at the Compound Grill! A full review with photos to come later. Check back! Set List Martin Sexton The Compound [...]
