True fans of music spend countless hours searching for that next great song, album or artist, whether it be online or in a local record shop. The beautiful thing about music in today's age is that technology has created an infinite supply of great music that is available to us at the click of a mouse. How perfect is that? We can discover a brand new artist on the opposite side of the globe in seconds without a radio or a music television channel. It only makes sense that a website so dedicated to this gorgeous universe of music would [...]

I sometimes wonder when Ben Eshmade lets his penguin workers sleep. For those unfamiliar with Ben and his feathered team, they are behind all the Arctic Circle concerts in London. The Daylight Music sessions in the Union Chapel. The forthcoming Bubbly Blue and Green festival in Kings Place. The Arctic Circle That Fuzzy Feeling compilations. [...]

The Explorer's Club is new and very interesting subscription-based mp3-club made as a collaboration between Eardrums' favourite LOAF recordings (home of great bands like Dark Captain Light Captain , Seeland, Vincent Oliver and others), and Arctic Circle , who arranges concerts in London (Efterklang at the Barbican, Notwist at the Union Chapel, etc). For one year, starting in January, the new club will release new digital singles once a month from 30 artists from all over the world. The singles will include two or three exclusive [...]

Audiversity's weekly column on music we stumble across during our sonic adventures. No random numbers, just straight audio goodness. MA: Revisiting one of the earlier releases from a label we gushed about repeatedly last year – the UK's Type Records – TYEP002, the six-song EP Six Preludes from compositional wunderkind Ryan Teague , has creeped its way back into my heavy rotation. Balancing equal parts chamber music, avant-electronica, sample-based composing and modern classical, Teague melts the opposing styles of Arvo [...]

TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain (4AD) Jusqu'à l'été dernier, j'étais assez circonspect sur le phénomène TV On The Radio.

WORD
I wasn't a big fan of Ryan Teague's previous Type release, Six Preludes , despite getting it during a very heavy bout of orchestral music listening. There was something too abstract about much of it for me. However, when news started leaking of his new album, with Teague employing a full orchestra for some parts, I became interested in checking him out again. I'm glad I gave him a second chance, as Coins & Crosses is a gloriously beautiful album of strings and electronics. Many of the songs [...]
