Excited to see them perform so wanted to introduce you guys to the band and give you some of their music to digest.
[There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.] Taylor McFerrin is incredibly talented. Glad to know Brainfeeder scooped him up. While this song and video are depressing they're both beautifully done.

The other day I stumbled across this pretty wicked track from Brainfeeder artist Taylor McFerrin. Ryat's vocals are reminiscent of Bjork, and definitely add a certain edge to this haunting song and video. "Place In My Heart" is taken from the forthcoming full length release Early Riser . Taylor McFerrin has released a video for his track "A Place in My Heart" which is from his latest album entitled Early Riser. Taylor is one the artists signed to the newer label, Brainfeeder , started by Flying Lotus . The track is a groovy electronica mix that features RYAT on vocals. And, the video is beautifully shot and directed but may tug at the heartstrings. Check out the video and track below. Click here to view the embedded video.

Philadelphia’s RYAT is the force of both Christina Ryat and Tim Conley which together defy musical gravity. They're onliest, in-your-face and bass heavy just the way we like our talent. I mean, if you have something to say - fucking say it. Their track Superficial Fiction does. And I'm confident we'll hear more March 8th, when their album Avant Gold sees daylight via Obvious Bandits . Spring tour also in the works. More info here . [...]
We may as well rename this damn site brainfeederbumsesh.com or something because once again the track featured here is to be released on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label . Although, in honest reflection David aka Jheri Kurl aka White Men Can't Run aka The O.G.G. doesn't amble about with the same musical blinkers strapped to his tiny head that I do. Like a tired old pit pony, I just want to lie down! Taylor McFerrin is Bobby McFerrin's son so if 'Don't Worry, Be Happy' is most certainly your bag then great because this is completely different. Blissed-out [...]

Philadelphia's RYAT (pronounced "riot") is the brainchild of Christina Ryat, a multi-instrumentalist and sound manipulator. She has temed up with Tim Conley to create some cool electronica sounds based around bass heavy rhythms, live electronics & instrumentation. Ryat has also announced the release of their album, Avant Gold , on March 8th through their own Obvious Bandits imprint. Check out the duo latest track "Superficial Fiction" as well as look out for them on tour this spring enjoY! RYAT - Superficial Fiction
Electronic, indie duo RYAT just release their debut album "Avant Gold" and are hitting Strange Matter tonight for us to enjoy. The tour will aslo feature special guest drummer Chris Wood (of Grimace Federation and Orbit to Leslie), who is also featured on the record. Also playing are Roy G Biv , Totem and Tenenbaum Boys and Girls Club . The group's mash-ups and big-beat styles make "Avant Gold" a raw, organic, electric, indie-pop album that blasts your senses into overdrive.
Philadelphia duo RYAT play moody electronic pop the right way. They've just released their debut album Avant Gold this month and, truthfully, I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The genre... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

Taylor McFerrin isn't what you'd call a household name. Chances are, you're more familiar with his pops, multiple Grammy Award-winning vocalist and composer Bobby McFerrin. But the younger McFerrin certainly shares his father's musical genes. While Bobby - who you probably know thanks to his number one 1980's hit 'Don't Worry Be Happy' - tends to combine easily palatable jazz leanings with a splash of Caribbean flavour, Taylor favours the instrumental hip hop/soul end of the musical spectrum. After making a splash back in 2006 with Gilles Peterson/Benji B favourite 'Broken Vibes ', [...]
