Stuck on Repeat simply collects together a load of tracks over an un-specified amount of time that we consider essential listening, also a bit of BBB playlist. As always with these types of things there maybe certain tracks you’ve already heard, tracks we’ve missed or accidentally overlooked, so please feel free to hit up the comments with anything you think is indispensable. Monday Music's the one weekly post where Some Of It Was True! abandons its London focus. Boy Friend - Egyptian Wrinkle Part Cocteau Twins, part Paul McKenna's special hypnotism-chamber music and part one-too-many aspirins, this soft-focus beaut (the title-track from an album out on Hell, Yes! ) from the Austin musicians takes you swimming down memory lane in a special, pain-proof glass chariot. Just stumbled upon this track (via it getting sent to me in an electronic mail message) and I thought it was just great. "A Walk Home" is a track from Wasted Youth Blues , the debut EP from fivesome The Morning Clouds , led by Josh Wambeke. It's a slower tune with a Beach House-y vibe that swells into a luscious blanket of musical warmth so I'm clearly on board with it right away. And if that wasn't up your alley, check out the pretty unrecognizable 8+ minute remix from Sad City (which is for [...]
Sad City first thrilled us with a bait-and-switch, flipping the rhythm of his song "Jaya" from plaintive calm to global carnival midway, like two songs in one. On "Night Time Trail," a song from his ... read more

The groove on this seems entirely one way, at first, like something endlessly pretty, sure, but also settled. Then, at about the one minute mark, Sad City introduces a beat and it becomes something else ... read more
Favorite Label of 2010//Underwater Peoples Yes, they killed it at CMJ, yes all the artists are polite, personable and VERY talented, but that’s besides the point because you can be a total doucher and make amazing music and people will love you regardless, buy your albums, and pay an obscene amount of money to come to your shows (Kanye) I’m not a hater, love all the albums, just sayin. Music fans are very forgiving. But seriously, lets talk about the talent on this Label. Ducktails , Julien Lynch , Family Portrait , Real [...]
Sad City “My curtains flow like tears. Your curtains don’t match.” Sad City - Jaya ( mp3 )

J Lynch just pointed the brilliantly textured "Sister" in my direction in the late hours of the night. Building upon layers and layers and finally blossoming into some sort of rare orchid with jungle shakes and some jazzy saxophone, this is one of my favorite Jules tunes to date. Lefse Records is set to drop this on a split 73 with Sad City who is also expected to have his version of a "Sister" on the other side. Julian Lynch - Sister

Underwater Peoples , the label that has brought amazing beach pop music to the attention of many (me included) is feeling quite generous this summer, giving away a summer sampler of all of their upcoming releases. Featuring the two most popular names from the label, Real Estate and Ducktails , the sampler fits in perfectly with your summer playlist. Along with the two instantly recognizable names, other less known artists littered throughout the album help round the entire sampler into something that feels much more like a real album or [...]
