UK pop trio Saint Etienne know how to craft good pop records, including 20092s Method of Modern Love . Bob, Pete, & Sarah return with Tonight , a Richard X / Xenomania collaboration laden with strings, 90s dance flavor + a catchy chorus. We're hearing hints of Robyn 's Dancing On My Own buried deep within this electo-pop gem. Bob says... "Tonight is about the anticipation of going to see your favourite group. For some reason, I imagine [...]
Right, time to blow the cobwebs off this mother I think. I've had enough of winter, enough of the coalition, the build-up to the build-up to the presidential race in a country thousands of miles away, the BBC fawning over the monarchy, Cameron having an opinion on everything , top-level football and all its attendant hype, homegrown players throwing themselves around football pitches like they were auditioning for the lead role in a Jurgen Klinsmann biopic, racism (but not Racey. You can never have too much Racey), award ceremonies, red carpets, pop stars popping their clogs, panel shows, bills, [...]

Although not an obvious match Saint Etienne and The [...]

The 2 Bears : Work ( Saint Etienne Remix) - MP3 MP3
Posted in General Clickable Something For The Weekend Claire Boucher aka Grimes, is apparently from Montreal, but her voice seems to come from some Electric Fairyland, judging by this and her other tunes. To me this track is like a Beverley Hills Cop remix of some never released St. Etienne track. I like it. It's a funny one for a Sunday Supplement; it's [...]

I wasn't much into Saint Etienne before about 1998. I hadn't yet developed a taste for treacly pop or learned how to forgive bluntly shallow lyrics, and the songs I'd heard of theirs like "He's On The Phone" were more pop than I could take at the time. I can't remember why I gave their 1998 album Good Humor a chance (likely because of that that constant paranoia of the music geek that you're missing out on something good), but it completely turned around my opinion of Saint Etienne. My warming to them is probably in [...]

Neil Thomas Douglas As I understand it, yesterday was Robbie Burns Day and while I may have missed out on my annual tradition of posting something suitably Scottish to mark the day - a tradition I've marked exactly zero times in the past forever years - I'm going to make up for it a little bit by leading with some Scots-related content. Firstly, We Were Promised Jetpacks have finally scheduled a second North American tour in support of last year's In The Pit Of The Stomach [...]

Saint Etienne It's been seven years since their last album, and Saint Etienne have announced their return - the band have made a new single, 'Tonight', available to download . You can stream the song below. The new album is as yet untitled, but the single definitely sounds promising - built on a bed of strings and electronica with an, as usual, irresistible pop hook, it sounds like the melancholic/euphoric pop we're currently missing from the likes of Robyn and Girls Aloud (it's produced by Xenomania's Tim Powell and mixed by [...]

SynthPop legends Saint Etienne are back! With their first full length studio album in seven years on the horizon the trio have dropped the first single from the forthcoming release, 'Tonight'. Two facts about 'Tonight' you'll probably not be surprised at. 1) It's produced by Xenomania's Tim Powell, 2) It's mixed by Richard X. According to SE's Bob Stanley the track is " about the anticipation of going to see your favourite group. For some reason, I imagine this show is at the Forum in Kentish Town. The whole album is about the power of pop, [...]

A glossy pop powerhouse, 'Tonight' is the first single to be taken from Saint Etienne 's forthcoming album. Speaking about the new track Bob Stanley said it "is about the anticipation of going to see your favourite group. For some reason, I imagine this show is at the Forum in Kentish Town. The whole album is about the power of pop, how it affects and shapes your life". You can download the track for a limited time only from their website or listen in full below. Produced by [...]

Seven years since their last release, pop veterans Saint Etienne are giving away their new single, 'Tonight'. The track has some real pop pedigree behind it in producer Tim Powell who has worked with the likes of Kylie, Girls Aloud and The Sugarbabes. "Tonight is about the anticipation of going to see your favourite group. For some reason, I imagine this show is at the Forum in Kentish Town. The whole album is about the power of pop, how it affects and shapes your life." - Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley. [...]

Saint Etienne - Tonight [ free d/l - St Etienne's page ] One of my fave bands ever is back! With an instant classic, to boot. Like the album it's taken from, the band's first in 7 years (!), Tonight is all about the primal and atavistic pull that all good pop music exerts, about how the unadulterated thrill of a great band or gig can sometimes feel like a hotline straight to your heart. The track is produced by Xenomania's Tim Powell (Girls Aloud, Kylie, Sugababes), and mixed by [...]

One of British dance-pop originals, Saint Etienne have reissued a handful of their early records recently, but this year we will see the group's first album of new material in 7 years. The first new single to jumpstart the campaign is, "Tonight." It was produced by Tim Powell and mixed by Richard X and its brilliantly mastered for sure... Get it, for FREE, HERE and listen below...

What a delightful surprise! Indie-pop legend Saint Etienne premiered their brand new single "Tonight" today, taken from their first full-length album in 7 years, tentatively titled "Words And Music By Saint Etienne" . The effervescent tune is produced by Tim Powell (Xenomania) and mixed by Richard X - two of the best British contemporary electro-pop whizzes. According to Bob Stanley: "Tonight is about the anticipation of going to see your favourite group. For some reason, I imagine this show is at the Forum in Kentish Town. [...]

The Internet seemed pretty excited today when this dropped, the first new music from techno-pop trio Saint Etienne since 2005. I personally am unfamiliar with the band, but I didn't like this track and am not entirely sure this was the best introduction to them. The strings and synths intro was great but the song descended into a really, really bland pop song that comes close to a kind of disco without ever pulling it off. Am I missing something, or is this just bad? Can someone recommend any good Saint Etienne? Because from the descriptions getting thrown around they [...]

Admittedly, we missed Saint Etienne in their prime (not our fault) - but have reaped the benefits of their amazing catalog due to the recent re-issues and crate digging through various "used" piles. Luckily, we have a taste of new music from them for the fist time in 7 years. Via P4K : St. Etienne's Bob Stanley (who has contributed to Pitchfork) says the track is "about the anticipation of going to see your favourite artist. For some reason, I imagine this show is at the Forum in Kentish Town. The whole album is about [...]
