Last night Sweetwater Organic Community Farm in Tampa hosted their annual Pesto Festo. For the past 20 years the farm has celebrated the end of their season by hosting a night full of organic food, music, and prizes. Despite the somewhat pricey entry fee (20 dollars a person) I didn't hesitate when I received the email about it. Sweetwater Farms provides an important service for our community. It offers members the opportunity to purchase seasonal, local. organic food as an alternative to the tasteless sprayed stuff available in most supermarkets. The farm also aims to educate the next [...]

"My salad days, when I was green in judgement and cold in blood..." -Cleopatra in Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra Some days it seems that everyone is eating salad. Vanilla salad. The kind that is made with iceberg lettuce, a couple round tomatoes, some shredded carrot or thinly sliced cucumber and a packet of lite salad dressing on the side. I watch it being shoveled into their mouth, unhappily, as it is more the result of some diet fad or an easy way to lose those few pounds that have set it than a choice [...]

We need to start charging Melbourne, Australia rental space on Aerialnoise cos this is about the umpteenth enjoyable delight that we've had to showcase on these online written space-clouds coming from them ... Trying to work out what their government has put into their water in making them a nation of creative individuals, we look at the four man brother-stable of The McQueens being transformed into a toss 'em whilst their hot remix by Salad. Following behind with no all-male shower references in sight.. is Salad's remix [...]

A few years back I was at a karaoke party that catered to academics. In between bad renditions of Bob Dylan songs I could barely make out a conversation between two people I didn't know. They were going on and on about the deconstruction of something really boring. I yawned a few times, audibly like Chris Farley in a chimpanzee movie, but they didn't seem to pick up on how dull they were. When I finally was able to escape, I went right up to the karaoke microphone and had the DJ put on some Meatloaf "I Would Do Anything [...]

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Candy Salad is the sophomore effort from one of my favorite acts, Suckers . My first few weeks with the record were tumultuous; I just couldn't wrap my ears around the slightly polished and less erratic tunes. But, I'm dedicated to these dudes, and that sort of dedication definitely paid off in the long run. This record might not be as effortlessly brilliant as Wild Smile, but get to know the album [...]

As Coachella heads into its second weekend, and as I mournfully think about the tickets I had to sell (have fun Jorge), I decided to compile a playlist of hot heat indie dance and nu disco tracks to remind me of the desert sun and the euphoric dance party I'll be missing. And there's no better way to get that sun drenched feeling than to listen to Australian Salad's remix of Dracula Palms' Pretty Lady . The light and airy guitar picks combined with subequator synths [...]

Florentine traditionalists will thumb their nose at this dish as it does not contain onions, tomatoes, vinegar or basil. This is not panzanella they might utter, this is an abomination. In my humble opinion, any abomination that tastes good is worth it. I mean just take a look at this site, you will find so many abominations that I should probably call it the food version of the Mutter Museum . So what is in this panzanella? First you start with a bed of greens. I was basing it on a recipe discussed at eat make [...]

Jubilants is a Sydney-based indie pop band with a clear knack for delivering very catchy tunes with feel-good melodies and plenty of jangly guitars. Their debut single "Antics" was released last year and generated unexpected buzz online, eventually getting thousands of plays on SoundCloud and over 80000 views on YouTube. Now the Aussies are ready for round two! The band's new single "Spain" is out since March 12th and it is just as addictive as their previous endeavours. Listen below and grab a download on Jubilants' BandCamp . Jubilants - Spain [...]

I wish I had a bathtub stopper so I could lay stretched out and let my mind choose between dreaming, or exploring ceiling details while dreaming. Some impassioned vitamins can enhance any mystic mind journey, adding a certain vulnerability. As they weaken your body they strengthen your escape and let you drift into wonder. I've played this too many times and somehow it continues to stimulate. This song is better than medicine in its healing. Metric – Blindness (Amtrac Remix) [...]

And the music don't stop. Louis La Roche is heating things up with this sexy remix of I'm With It from Speech Debelle . Purchase . B-Trix is back with some indie dance deliciousness. Jackie has a new EP out. For those that are familiar with his work, you'll take this as big news. For those who are unfamiliar, say hello to the absolutely incredible disco/french/funk house sound of this Polish producer. [...]

I know very little about Salad from Melbourne, Australia except that he is very talented- and very different than the Canadian artist called Salad we featured a few years back. This remix is for a project called Jubilants who have a unique and dynamic sound [You can check them out here ]. This remix definitely does the original justice. I really dig it. Hopefully this is the first of many from Salad. Get a bunch of free stuff on http://saladmusic.bandcamp.com .

A producer hailing from Melbourne and going by the name ' Salad ' has done a remix of Jubilants " Antics " ( missed it? click here ). He gives the track a tropical synth-funk sound and there is a really nice change of pace at around the 4 minute mark. It falls into that whole 'nu-disco' sound without being predictable. Refreshing! Jubilants - Antics (Salad Remix) [ Download ] [...]

This is one of those moments where you've never heard of the band, nor the remixer - it's not because im some music snob... it's more so because there's just so much damn music out there! As far as the interwebs tells us, the Jubilants are a Sydney 'prancy' outfit consisting of 4 dudes including a guy named Ardie (dope name man) with Salad being of the Melbourne variant. The lata, Salad has turned the original track "Antics" into a pulsing and totally satisfying effort with a joyous [...]

Back in 2005 there was this bad ass movie called Hustle and Flow (a pimp tries to become a rap star). One of the songs, "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp," walked away with an Academy Award and a place forever in my vernacular. Since really getting into the food scene in Tampa the song has become "It's Hard Out Here for a Vegan." I can think of only two Tampa restaurants that are completely vegan. Neither of them is that good. This is a stark contrast to many of the bigger cities that I have visited around the [...]

Check his history: Zilla Rocca's been a beast. In just 16 bars, no other rapper could seamlessly namedrop the futility of the Seattle Pilots, Neruda, Hemingway's love of daiquiris, Medellin, Omega 32s, chicken nuggets, and Southern Comfort while flipping the beat to Tony Stark's "Fish." When the Wrecking Crew co-founder first floated the idea of a Wu-Tang Pulp project , I thought it was totally superfluous. Vintage Wu-Tang songs can't be improved, but what Zilla knew and I didn't, is that they're the perfect jump-off - spring boards for creativity that manifest in "Scallops," the [...]

In my three years of blogging I've learned a number of valuable things. First, no matter how bad something tastes, if you dress it up and take a good picture it can still make mouths water. Second, the world will never run out of music (good or bad). Third, and perhaps most importantly, if a restaurant that has been around for over one hundred years suggests that you know nothing about them and insists on bringing you in for a tour and free meal you calmly say with a smirk " The Columbia ? Never heard of it. I'd love [...]
