I am interested to see what this decade brings to Swedish pop music. One would be hesitant to call the '00s a moment of global emergence for the movement, especially considering that the country has been generating quality music already for several decades. Its separable status in Western pop music is indicative of its special [...]

If you follow label's closely, they always lead you to new gems. Such was the case when I hit up Labrador Records , the label that releases lots of killer Swedish tunes. This time around they led me to Sambassadeur , another up-and-comer from the Swedish scene. You'll find this tune on their new album European , which comes out at the end of Ferbruary. Photography by introvertevent Hey all. Not going to lie to you, I've got some personal issues that are tearing me up. I'm not going to go to any details because it's private, nor am I looking for any sympathy, but I'll have to keep this pretty short today. One thing I will say is that European by Sambassadeur... ...is wonderful. Just beautiful escapist pop, full, fleshed out, orchestral, and charming enough to sweep you away, [...]

Great things happen when you least expect it. For example, when we began piece together this week's edition of the Friday Mixtape, we never thought it would turn out to be one of the best ever. Sure, we assumed this week's mix, which features the best new singles, remixes, covers, and mp3s from some up-and-comers you just might want to check out, would be good. But this good? Nah! Enjoy! ![CD Review: Swedish for Beginners – Facts and Fabrications [2009, Wonderland Records]](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2293490_lg.jpg)
Toronto - Just like Tiger Woods, I enjoy Swedish things - mostly, Swedish music. So when I was perusing my local record store/the internet and I saw a band called Swedish for Beginners , I was instantly intrigued. There have been countless awesome Swedish bands that I have enjoyed in the previous years - Shout Out Louds, Sambassadeurs, The Legends, Jens Lekman.. pretty much the entire Labrador roster. Something about the waters in Sweden allows them to make really splendid and rich pop music. Swedish for Beginners is actually off Wonderland Records [...]

Perfect for your commute home this evening: Sambassadeur's second single 'Stranded,' from the forthcoming album "European" due out February 23rd on Labrador Records. Sambassadeur - Stranded (Mp3)

Yep, we're heading North via the quaint village of Camera Obscura towards the hamlet of Labrador . Melodies never sleep there, they endlessly reinvent themselves and circulate through its mazy corridors like a warm spring air. We've visited plenty of times and stayed at the Hotel Sambassadeur at least once before. Such a lovely place, grandeur and a welcome sense of the familiar means it's an easy choice. The establishment will upgrade next month when the finished renovation job will make this a top class 4-star 'European' destination. We enjoy our 'Days' there and hope word of [...]

Vibrant color and movement mark an assurance that somewhere anywhere there's a place worth going with Sambassadeur's forthcoming album, European . Listen to "Stranded," the second single from their forthcoming album, European , due out February 23rd on Labrador Records. sound: Stranded http://www.sambassadeur.com http://www.myspace.com/sambass adeurtheband http://www.labrador.se

Sambassadeur started as a DIY version of ABBA in the year 2003. They were one of the bands that lead an explosive Swedish pop movement of home recording artists who surprised our country by not only achieving overnight indie fame (thanks to the MP3 spreading kids!) but also reached the sales charts. Since that their sound has continued to grow with their recording budget. On "European" they've finally accomplished to make the grand, classic and orchestrated album they've always wanted to. [...]
This is the fourth official installment of the Impressionable Youth Tardy Series. Sometimes (a lot of the times) great music ends up getting lost in our inbox. If we eventually find it and like it, you'll see it here. It's old news, but it's good news. Sorry we were tardy! The Band: Sambassadeur The Album: European Date Received: Nov. 2009, album release Feb 24, 2010 (we're so tardy, we're actually early by default!) Why [...]

Sambassadeur - " Days " In my opinion, today is a great day for some Twee-pop. And lucky for me, the Tuneage mailbox recently received the third album from Sweden's Sambassadeur entitled European , which comes out February 23rd on Labrador Records . I was immediately interested in checking out this band when I saw the words "Swedish Indie Pop." Happily, I was not disappointed, but very pleased to hear influences from Belle & Sebastian, Camera Obscura and even a little ABBA.

I largely missed the Sambassadeur bandwagon up until now. I was vaguely aware of them and discovered a few songs in my music library, so I must have stumbled across them to at least some degree. By and large they went right over my head though, which is slightly odd as they seem to be my kind of band. Days is the lead single from the band's upcoming third album, entitled European . It's a wonderfully orchestral journey that evokes the same kind of Swedish indie pop joy that [...]

Today, Labrador Records is offering a preview of four new Sambassadeur's songs off their forthcoming album "European", due for release in February 24th, 2010. One of these tracks will be selected as the next single. We fall in love with "Albatross"... Sambassadeur: "Albatross" Preview all the tracks here Download the first single "Days" here
Wasn't able to keep my promise and post something yesterday, as we had a server breakdown at work. Therefore I couldn't access any files and since all my music files are stored there, I was handcuffed. But since I couldn't access any work files either, the situation was bearable. I'm currently giving the song of Irish indie rock 5 piece Elspeth some good listens. Lots of potential and the influences ranging from Jeff Buckley over Radiohead to Manic Street Preachers really shines through. Definitely have to [...]
Swedish group Sambassadeur are just putting the finishing touch to their upcoming album "European", which looks to have a February release date on the Labrador label. Upon sending over the single, Labrador described the first track "Days" as equal parts orchestrated part perfection and earthy 70's folk, sounding as if its being performed barefoot under crystal chandeliers. Take a listen and decide for yourselves... Sambassadeur Website Samba @ MySpace Samba @ Facebook Labrador Records @ [...]

I used to be able to manage faking it 'til you make it or acting "as if" until I could feel whatever it was that I was "supposed" to be feeling. But that's gotten harder to do over the years. In this context I guess I'm really talking about the advent of Christmas. For the past several years I find I've gone through the same thing: I push my way through Thanksgiving and then cross my fingers in the hopes that the festive seasonal trappings will inspire me to feel the joy and [...]
