"The Well [...]

Norwegian Synth Pop artist Sandra Kolstad is something of a magnet for innovative ideas. Returning with a brilliantly extravagant new single oozing in austerity and aspiration we're led forward on a bed of layered synths, draped in her unique charismatic vocals. Energised with a pulsating bassline I'd argue anyone to be sat still after listening to this. ' The Well (We Will Change It All) ' is taken from Sandra's latest album (Nothing Lasts) Forever available now via Trust Me Records . f: [...]
It's that time of the season, and here's your dose of shimmering springtime synth-pop, courtesy the Berlin-via-Oslo singer Sandra Kolstad . "The Well (We Will Change It All)," which we're psyched to premiere, grounds Kolstad's soaring vocals in textured, reflective synth tones and throbbing bass beats, hearkening to both the Balearic pop and techno legacies of her respective hometowns. Thanks to that beat and Kolstad's lyrical directives, it's a practically irresistible club track, sure, but those percolating synths summon some airy, wistful nostalgia too. Check it out - her new record (Nothing Lasts) Forever [...]

Still on my CMW adventures on March 21st. I randomly check out this free showcase at Moog Audio Store on 442 Queen St West. It was a showcase presented by Nordic by Nature and Swede & Sour . I was glad to check this out because two of the acts was from Europe and one from Iceland. Playing at this showcase: • Sóley (Iceland) • Sandra Kolstad (Norway) • [...]

Frank Yang Show cancellations are pretty much part and parcel of the Canadian Musicfest experience, particularly when you're most keen on the international acts who've been duped coerced into playing the fest, but it's especially disappointing when it's a) one of the bands you most wanted to see, b) they were one of the very first acts confirmed for the fest in November , and c) it happens just hours before showtime. But things like lymph node infections do happen, and with Efterklang singer Casper Clausen out [...]

Sandra Kolstad latest track Run Away, is starting to gain some traction on the bloggersphere; it is no surprise as the song contains a surprisingly catchy beat and chorus. Today I received the video that compliments the track, but be warned she likes to get naked. [...]

Don't know much about Norwegian pop-star-in-the-making Sandra Kolstad but her latest single "Run Away", from (Nothing Lasts) Forever , is a beast: So it's not breaking any boundaries or anything but damn, this is how to write a good pop song. And maybe it's not your thing, that's fine, but loosen up a bit! Any people hating on this song need to climb down from their organically fed, free-range high horse and give it a shot. (Nothing Lasts) Forever is available now, but vinyl [...]

The PR on Sandra Kolstad tells us two things: 1) She's big in Norway and 2) she puts on a killer live show. Very nice facts-they're encouraging, but ultimately they don't matter to you, surfing the internet, or to us, posting mp32s and song streams. Ultimately though this post exists because we love the song, and as it works out, the facts color the experience of "Run Away" quite well. It's a very busy electropop sound that no doubt would pair quite well with a frenetic lightshow. That it's from Scandinavia just makes us predisposed to liking it [...]

Norwegian electropop artist Sandra Kolstad released her sophomore album, (Nothing Lasts) Forever , last week in the U.S. That's the cover art above and you can check out a stream of catchy lead single "Run Away" and its arty, NSFW video below. Sandra is visiting North America as we speak, currently in Toronto for Candian Music Week . She'll then head to NYC for a couple shows: Cameo on Sunday (3/24) with TORILD , and Racing Heart ( tickets ), and the [...]

Frank Yang The nice thing about having written about Swedish duo The Deer Tracks at length over over the past ten months is that rather than bother with any preamble, I can just point you to those past pieces and get right to it. I honestly hadn't expected them to return to town so soon after NXNE last year , not because they didn't want to but because of the economic realities of small international acts trying to tour this continent. But with the [...]

Amazing video for an amazing song from Sandra Kolstad off the album ( Nothing Lasts) Forever .
Norwegian surrealist-pop singer Sandra Kolstad streams her DEFINITELY NSFW new video, featuring a lot of gore and even more nudity. Watch above, only if your boss isn't stood behind you...

Norwegian electropop songstress Sandra Kolstad follows up a superb appearance at London's monthly Scandi club night Ja Ja Ja with this new video for 'Circles (It's Got Every Little Part of Me Running In)'. The clip sees the singer in her homeland, seemingly viral-marketing her own face.

Ah, Scandinavia, with its sprawling landscapes of sculpted beauty, population of more than averagely good-looking humans and endless well of amazing musicians. Can it do no wrong? Well, here's the rub: it looks as though it can't. Without necessarily setting out to do so, this corner of Northern Europe has become somewhat of a leader when it comes to electro-pop. With an added bonus of nonchalance and effortlessness to the sound, there is an unmistakable quality to the music continuously emerging from this region. Singer-songwriter, Sandra Kolstad , is its latest [...]
