A$AP Rocky is not perfect but he's constantly pushing himself. When his debut mix-tape LiveLoveA$AP dropped in 2011, it was easy to write off Rocky as a one-dimensional lyricist who used a basic formula encapsulated by drunken and drugged-up swag rap, over lush, experimental production credited largely to Clams Casino . Though he mildly pushed the boundaries of his genre, the mix-tape proved unforgettable due to Rocky 's sub-par lyrical and rapping ability. After a six month delay, A$AP Rocky returns with a [...]

Theophilus London To kick off AiMT 2012 , I got some help from the homey DJ E-Yo , who hosts KXUA 's The Concrete Schoolyard . That's a hip-hop show I created around 10 years ago. I held it down for four years (tops), but E-Yo has kept the name going for an additional six. By all accounts, the show is his now, and he owns it like I never owned it. Check it out on the KXUA stream every Thursday night from 8 until 10 [...]
Now that our best of 2012 lists are completed and behind us, it's time to look to the coming year. Welcome to our roundup of the most anticipated albums of 2013, which features a nice mix of albums both confirmed and rumored to drop. Of course, we tried to keep the latter of those to a minimum, but we couldn't pass up making some comments about, say, Jay Electronica's probably-never-being-released Act II . We couldn't fit all of those rumored releases on here, however, because then we would just be going on and on about albums [...]

We'll here it is! My end of list of sorts, for what it's worth. Putting anything in any sort of order is just not going to happen in my brain. I decided to write about 25 songs (and the projects they come from) that were released in 2012 and that I played A LOT! I tried to stay away from obvious songs that are included on almost every other publication and you the reader already know. I enjoy introducing some new talent instead. Hopefully, I accomplished that. With out further adieu...check out everything below! PS: [...]

2012 was an absolutely stellar year for rap music no matter how you slice it. Seemingly out of nowhere the variety and talent within the genre exploded, and it didn’t seem to be specific to any particular sub-genre or geographic region. I usually tend to favor hip hop that comes out of the NYC area, and it’s no surprise that the area is well represented on my list. The first two albums I reviewed for Thought On Tracks were from Brooklyn MC’s Ka and billy woods. I considered them album of the year contenders when I wrote the reviews back [...]
Favorite Songs of 2012: Part 1 (100-51) You will have to take these list rankings with a grain of salt, because although I tried my best to accurately arrange the tracks, I change it every time I listen to one of the songs. I also only included my favorite song from each artist, so there are no doubles (except for I think one person, but they were part of two different groups). A few songs are also technically from before 2012, but they all appear on albums or [...]
Day 4 of our 4-day countdown of the best of the year. Part 1 (80-61) can be found here . Part 2 (60-41) can be found here . Part 3 (40-21) can be found here . To recap: AlbatRoss and I had 2 guidelines that we stuck to in compiling this list: 1) it had to be rap (meaning no R&B - Frank Ocean and Miguel had killer years but they won't be found on this list) and 2) one song per project on the list. We did this (including honorable mentions, of course) to make sure we brought a [...]

Well this was unexpected. Over two years after he released the song with his Long Term 2 mixtape, Ab-Soul gives "Pass the Blunt" the visual treatment. This ScHoolboy Q-assisted track is a tripped-out combination of sparkles and smoke, and has a cartoon-like feel to it. It's definitely not meant for kids, though, with the impossible-to-ignore omnipresence of ganja. Check it out below:

Favorite Music Videos of 2012 (Alex) There was no way I was going to be able to watch all the music videos released this year. I liked so many different videos for so many different reasons it seemed silly to try and rank them. That's why I have presented my first year-end list (several more to come) alphabetically. The reasons I liked music videos this year was for a wide variety of reasons, ranging from the ones that might not have made the list [...]
![[Hip-Hop] Schoolboy Q](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4688874_lg.jpg)
Schoolboy Q has a very distinct style; I've never heard anyone like him. He's got a very nice and jumbled flow: he doesn't necessarily follow the beat exactly but it still sounds smooth. Q is very versatile, you could listen to his song when your working out or just chilling. He deserves more recognition. The third song below tells when I like to listen to him. Before I forget I must give a shoutout to my buddy Sam for showing me There He Go. Enjoy. [...]
