Hello, my Needle Drops. Wow, that looks weird typed to me. Well, let's move on. Track review time. 'Nother text one. Hey, when y'all read this, do you hear it in your heads as my voice? Weird, right? Right now, we're focusing on a track from a death metal album I was smitten with a few weeks back: Azarath's Blasphemers' Maledictions . These guys are from Poland, and this is their fifth album if I'm correct. In previous reviews, I've been really open about my thoughts on death metal. I've got a bigger crush on [...]
Above is some Polish death metal with a blackened edge from the band Azarath. Blasphemers' Maledictions is the band's fifth full-length. I've mentioned before that it's difficult for me to find modern death metal that I enjoy. Of course, there are numerous groups in the underground that embrace an older style of the genre, but how these groups play their instruments isn't really the issue. I'm fine with speed and technical intricacies. It's the use of drum triggers and sterile guitar tones really makes listen to metal a lot less intense to me. [...]
![[Listen/Download] Chang-a-Lang- Scorn Your Youth Master](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3406799_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Chang-a-Lang is a three piece power rock band from Toronto, Ontario. The trio's always busy performing about with bands such as Whale Tooth . If you're in Toronto check out their vinyl release party at The Garrison on May 20th where they will release their vinyl named No Clean Rock and Roll . One of the tracks will be Scorn Your Youth Master . It's a scorning teenage anthem of sorts about how things never change. Chang-a-Lang- [...]
Hey dudes and ladies, sorry I haven't been posting much this month. I've been travelingeven more than usual, and haven't had much time to sit down and write down much of anything besides flight confirmation numbers and directions to wherever I happen to be sleeping any given evening. Cheers once again to those of you [...]

This Swedish black metal duo brings the same harsh guitars and pummeling drums that have made the genre so distinct, but they throw a lot of heavy thrash riffs in for good measure, too. It's dark, ominous, foreboding; but a straightforward attitude always prevails. Scorn is Avsky 's latest studio album, and stream the title track down below:

Souls of Mischief - Postal Murs + 9th Wonder - Let Me Talk featuring Suga Free (via Passion of the Weiss.com) For some of you who know me intimately, you know I've been going through things, and I've been tweeting / facebooking for Earfuzz, leaning on heavy Bobby Womack and assorted soul songs, plus some emo-electro-pop-funk. Well a weekend ago, accidentally, I found a few hip hop songs that [...]
So I've been living in the UK for about four months now, and have managed to take in quite a lot of this "culture" thing they're so fond of over here. I've been to nine countries, eight major metal festivals, and a handful of cities in Ol' Blighty itself; I've gate-crashed hotel parties in Norway [...]
Legendary former Napalm Death drummer Mick Harris formed Scorn in the early-90's with original Napalm Death bassist/vocalist Nic Bullen, but to be honest with you I've never really explored much of Scorn's work because what I heard first came from the band's later, more experimental years (which I wasn't quite ...
Formed by two former Napalm Death members (Nic Bullen and Mick Harris) , Scorn eventually became a one-man show run by Harris after Bullen's departure. Musically, it have little to nothing to do with either of musician's past work and while their early work still retained traces of traditional rock music, Scorn's later/current output is [...]

As I've been stating all week, apologies for my perceived "distance" from blogging, but things are quite stressful at the moment. It's times like these I wish I had minions to prepare funny blog posts for me, because I'm stretched pretty thin between working extra days, trying to fill the emptying room in my apartment, and trying to budget money that I don't really have since I'm now "head of the household" and responsible for all future bills until I move. I could use a better job now. Anyone know of any openings in the Los Angeles area that wouldn't [...]

Good Wednesday, space tourists! Now that I have returned from a week of groveling and panhandling, I can return to my normal routine -- that is, making fun of musicians and baby boomers, and manifesting the occasional mix tape to rape your virgin ears. Sorry, I know rape jokes aren't funny. They're mean. Like the act of forced sexual intercourse on a male or woman. Hey, wasn't that movie Battle Royale really unimpressive? I prefer the Ralph Ellison short story from Invisible Man (1952), which was about a black student being forced to fight other black [...]

Not intended to feature the latest music out there, my 'Pick of the Week' is to simply share & highlight music I personally enjoy regardless of timeframe. This weeks featured artist is Scorn (Mick Harris), remembered by most as being the former drummer for grindcore legends Napalm Death . Scorn has worked with avant-garde composer John Zorn and prolific producer Bill Laswell and has been remixed by the likes of electronic virtuosos Autechre , experimental industrialists Coil , and Meat Beat Manifesto to name [...]
