We don't know a lot about Louis Chauvin- he was very popular as a ragtime pianist but didn't know how to write music, so most of his own compositions went unrecorded. One that, luckily enough, didn't is called Heliotrope Bouquet from 1907. Supposedly, he started the song and got too sick and died before he could finish it, so a friend of his, Scott Joplin (yep) wrote the rest and transcribed it for him.
