Anyone with a brain has heard of Scouting for Girls . Some people love them, some people hate them. And others think they're just okay. I'm more in the "reasonably like them" category. When Scouting for Girls released their first self-titled album in 2007, everyone was all over them and their hit single "She's So Lovely," and their infectious indie pop love songs. Then it got boring after a year, and people began to turn their nose up at Scouting for Girls . But not me, I've always had a bit of love for [...]
These eleven artists were all featured in the past, most several years ago. Yet there's always a topical excuse to revisit something memorable. Combine this mix with rewards you can win from Caesars Entertainment's ''Total Rewards" program, and you're set for a damn good time

The nominees for the 2011 Ivor Novello Awards for 2011 were announced this week, and we're pleased to see some of TGTF's favourite acts being up for the esteemed gongs. The awards are described on the official Web site as "internationally respected for honouring excellence in British music writing" - definitely something we can get behind. In the Best Song Musically and Lyrically category, the title track of Conor J. O'Brien/ Villagers ' debut album, 'Becoming a Jackal', will be battling Manchester-based (and pictured above) [...]
DJ Bahler recently dropped his latest mashup mixtape, Waste No Water (Download) which is prelude to his bigger project, Free The Snares. Nonetheless, this mixtape is really good and when he told me that some of the songs were actually ones that didn'

Vorige week vroeg mijn vriendin of ik een liedje voor haar wilde vinden. This Ain't A Love Song van Roy Stride, zei ze.

2010 has come and gone and as the previous year drew to a close a whole host of people made lists of their favourites/Top 10’s from the year be it in music, TV or film. I personally find it to hard write top 10 lists so I thought I’d take the idea and put a [...]

In case you were busy stuffing your face while the Christmas Top of The Pops special was on, we've collated performances from Katy Perry, JLS, Ellie Goulding, Olly Murs, Cee-Lo Green, Plan B and Scouting For Girls below. Katy Perry - Firework JLS - Love You More Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed Olly Murs - Please Don't [...]

Guildean Gang From: Bedfordshire, United Kingdom I've listened to 'Dennis Bergkamp' by Guildean Gang (check out the video below) a number of times and I can find no connection to the great Dutch footballer. Not only that I haven't got a bloody clue what they song is about. However that's not important, what is important is how brilliant it is. One reviewer described it as a cross between The Kooks [...]
HAving previously reviewed their latest EP We caught up The Twilight Sad's frontman James Graham for an informal chat to discuss the band's latest EP and tour with Errors. Here is what he had to say: - Cougar Microbes: What Time did you wake up this morning? Was it out of choice or necessity? - [...]
Stereophonics (Main Stage, Friday) While there are one or two exceptions in their back catalogue (‘Local Boy In The Photograph’ and ‘Dakota’), for the most part, Stereophonics are the most ordinary of British guitar bands. There’s nothing to truly hate about their Oasis-lite, inoffensive daytime dad-rock, but there’s certainly nothing to get excited about. Not when there’s so much good stuff on offer on this year’s bill. Scouting for Girls (Vodafone Stage, Friday) The inexplicably popular London three-piece can be [...]

There's much to hate about Jo Whiley - that voice, her fawning over every new band as if they were the second coming, creating Fearne Cotton - but perhaps her biggest sin is the legacy of The Live Lounge. For those unfamiliar with the concept, let Musick enlighten you; basically, every week a band or singer arrives at the Radio 1 studios ready to "revamp" and "re-contextualise" a current hit single. So, for example, Scouting For Girls will rock up, play their new single and then delivery a irony-free take on 'My Humps' by The Black Eyed [...]

If you’ve been anywhere near the mainstream in the past few years you’ve probably heard Scouting For Girls ’ song. It goes by many different names – ‘She’s So Lovely’, ‘Heartbeat’, and ‘Elvis Ain’t Dead’ being just three examples – but nothing much really changes. For their second album Everybody Wants To Be On TV the band have subscribed to the age old adage of “if it ain’t broke...” But it remains to be seen whether it’s something which worked originally. There’s no doubt that happiness sells records and lead [...]

Last week we strongly advised you to bypass purchasing the new Scouting For Girls album in favour of donating money to any given charity. Whilst we collate the information to find out just how much you raised, it gives us great pleasure to announce that the 'band' failed in their attempt to score a second number 1, their flaccid excuse for an album flopping listlessly at number 2. MGMT entered at number 4, but we predict a pretty spectacular fall once the people who haven't read the reviews start telling all their mates there's no 'Kids' [...]
