Silversun Pickups  have already exceeded my expectations as band with their last album Swoon . What I expected to be an updated version of the 902s one hit wonder bands turned into one of the more exciting bands of the late-20002s for me. They're back with some new music. "Seasick" is included on a 103 vinyl release that SP put out last week. These songs will not appear on their upcoming third album. Still exciting to hear anything new from this band. Hopefully some MP3 versions of these three unreleased tracks will surface soon.

Staying with the theme of recording especially lengthy songs that the Silversun Pickups set forth with their 2009 release Swoon we now have the especially long song title track "Seasick" off the band's Black Friday/Winter Record Store Day 103. Coming in at nearly 7:00, "Seasick" reminds us that just because a track is long doesn't mean that it has to be packed with filler noise and versus that don't profit the track. More Photos Here Seasick played their 2nd to last NB show before their long hiatus this past Wednesday in a New Brunswick basement. The New Jersey hardcore/thrash group will be forced to take a break from playing as their singer attends school abroad. Luckily I was at their 7.14 show to take some very terrible photos (sorry), which you can check out here . If you want to see Seasick before they take a long break you'll have to move fast as their last two shows are this Friday [...]

The RTF Fest happens this Saturday and features some of New Jersey's top hardcore/punk bands. The show will take place at Warren American Legion with a BBQ starting around 1pm(bands start at 3pm). Admission will be $7 before 5pm($10 after 5pm). Among those playing will be Seasick (last show before hiatus), Zhenia Golov (last show ever), GDP and The Banner . The show will also be the release show for both Black Kites ' LP and Fleshtemple 's "Registered Sex Offender" cassette tape. More info on the show can be found here [...]

In case you haven't noticed, rock music is often dominated by men, which means groups fronted by men often get more attention than those fronted by women. We're not really sure what the case is elsewhere, but there is a plethora of amazing female-fronted bands here in NYC/Brooklyn. We here at StereoactiveNYC may just take this for granted because we see and hear them as much as, if not more than those fronted by men. But we're wholeheartedly in favor of anything that draws attention to the sensationally talented women playing music in this city, so we definitely suggest heading [...]
