An EP is about to released by a band that I have written about before, and who is also probably my favourite unsigned band currently. The band is Seams and the EP is called Colours and Maps , and it is magnificent in every conceivable way. Last night Three Trapped Tigers rounded up their mammoth stretch of a UK tour with a spectacular outing at London's The Garage.The three-piece instrumentalists were backed by bizarro-electro outfit Nedry - a trio hailing from London, Osaka and Bristol separately - and the ever-brill soundscaper Seams . Lately, Nottingham five-piece Dog Is Dead have been playing every festival you could shake a stick at, including the upcoming Bestival next weekend. Keeping their momentum, the band's releasing their one-off single 'Hands Down' this Halloween. Available as a limited edition 7" and via digital download the song, produced by David Kosten, is a dreamy baroque pop force of effortless harmonies with rollicking drums, set to a fervour reminiscent of My Morning Jacket. For his latest mix, Seams pretty much read my mind by choosing my favourite tracks from the last couple of months. In fact, there isn't a single one on here I couldn't highly recommend, and that doesn't happen very often.
