It's midnight on a Sunday night, and you are flipping through the channels. There seems to be nothing on T.V., but wait... is that Scrubs being syndicated. Yes it is, and you can't help but watch. After airing for what seemed an eternity, and even surviving switching networks, the first season of the popular show starring Zach Braff reminds viewers why we loved Scrubs . Maybe it was the bromance between J.D. and Turk, perhaps it was the evil janitor, or even the rants by Dr. Cox. At any rate, I couldn't imagine college without being spectacle [...]
Last weekend, Backstage Rider 's Mikala Taylor hit the high seas for five days of distortion. She returned safely and unscathed, though we can't speak for her ears. We're pretty sure she had a blast, nonetheless, but we'll let the photos do the talking. We're not sure when, exactly, the full surrealism of being on a boat sailing from Miami to Mexico as part of The Weezer Cruise actually hit. Was it when Weezer played "Hash Pipe" shortly after the ship's horns sounded and we left Vice City? Or was it [...]

![[Introducing] – Slothbear](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3935936_lg.jpg)
Tweet It doesn't take long to pick up on the crisp autumnal backdrop that was taking place while Slothbear was recording its latest EP "Canter On" . Recorded during one weekend in the fall of this year and released 1st November, Slothbear' s haunting effort explores the echoing walls of guitarist Josh Ginsberg's newly vacated childhood home. The concept behind it was a final send-off for the home that held a lifetime's worth of memories within its walls. [...]

By Alex Brenner Best of 2011 (in no particular order) Well it's been a pretty good year for music I guess. Some real strong releases and of course some real turds, thanks Metallica. So here is my list of what I liked about 2011. 1. Wye Oak - Civilian . This band is phenomenal, live they are amazing. Great songs but also very dynamic and sonically always surprising. I guess a great mix between country and shoegazing [...]

Some new material from Eric Gaffney from Sebadoh , on an Angelfire page no less! Lots of info to ingest here along with some free mp32s, so check it out - the man's done some good work in the past. GRACEFULLY AGING HIPPY SOLOISTS . <!-- <!-- <!--
Since I will be getting foot surgery next week, I think I can safely say I'm not attending any more concerts this year so the December "list" season will be starting early this year. And since I will be stuck in my house for a month after the surgery, expect lots more lists and posts this month! Aren't you lucky? 1. Playing with such speed and energy that belied his age, the songs seemed as fresh as they must have [...]
It was two weeks ago today that I saw a show by the reunited Sebadoh. I really enjoyed the show and fully expected to post something the next day. Alas, two weeks later, I realize the show was kind of a singular moment. I expected it to fuel a renewed ...

[Photos by Chris Gersbeck for Fucking Nostalgic ] The age-old debate I have with myself about going to Maxwell's , especially on a weekend: Will this show be worth waiting for the PATH at 3 a.m.? The thing is, every time you talk yourself out of a Maxwell's show, you're probably wrong. If I hadn't hit this Sebadoh show in this intimate (and for Manhattan/Brooklynites, remote) venue - despite that they were down the street at Music Hall of Williamsburg the following night - I'd have missed out. This freewheeling show felt [...]
As we learned last month, the All Tomorrow's Parties festival is finally set for March 9-11, 2012. The festival was originally scheduled to take place in December, but was postponed due to "a set of extremely unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances." It will still take place in Minehead, England and feature Jeff Mangum, The Magnetic Fields,
As previously reported, ATP UK curated by Jeff Mangum has been postponed from December 2011 to March 9-11th, 2012. As a result, there are a few changes to the previously announced lineup, which the festival revealed today. To start, Panda Bear, Tinariwen, Superchunk, Group Inerane, The Mountain Goats, and Colin Stetson are all unable to play the new date and have been removed from the bill. What's more, the festival is still speaking to Fleet Foxes, Sun Ra Arkestra and Micachu And The Shapes and hopes to confirm their participation soon. As [...]

![[Introducing] – O'Messy Life](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3841007_lg.jpg)
Tweet O'Messy Life are an aptly named band. Life can get pretty messy at times, after all. Sometimes the only appropriate response is to throw your hands in the air and say sod it. If there's one thing that stands out about their music, it's that they don't really seem to give a damn - and that's by far the best thing about it. I can see people might take that remark in the wrong spirit, so let me clarify: clearly, [...]

Yeah, we know you know, but we had to post it. Show is at Headliners, doors at 8, show at 9. You already have tickets, but if you need more you can get them online or at the door. Guess you can't get them in an actual store anymore. Don't get Lou Barlow's Disease or Lucy Liu Flu. Continue reading Sebadoh w/ Mazes and Deer Meat @ Headliners 11/4 at Backseat Sandbar .

Indie rock vets Sebadoh will be playing the Hi-Tone this Saturday night the 5th. The band is reunited to tour in support of their recent reissues of Bakesale (1994) and Harmacy (1996). The three-piece is known to make some real noise and radiate some serious energy from stage. Don't miss one of the pioneers of lo-fi this Saturday. London's Mazes will open after locals The Perfect Vessels start the night out right. Doors at 9pm, 18+, $12 advance/$15 at door.

Lou Barlow talks to Cincinnati CityBeat about the Sebadoh reunion. The Atlantic interviews Gary Shetyngart about his novel Super Sad Love Story . Kuntz: It's a very postliterate world. There's data and there's snippets of text, but no one reads or writes. Books have been either banned or abandoned. Shteyngart: They haven't been banned. Oh no, they've just been abandoned. The 20th-century nightmare scenario where books were burned has been replaced [...]
