Two things are wrong with this post's subject matter, given my current situation: It's cold and rainy outside, and since I am no longer a student - I have no spring break. However, this doesn't mean I can't throw you a hip shaking, pool party playlist. Das Boot! The Playlist (for maximum enjoyment please keep in order): [mp3] DJ Mehdi (feat. I`m really excited to see Sebastien Grainger (of DFA1979) and the Jewish Legend this friday at Call The Office ...I`m excited and curious, cause I have next to nothing of their music.. Sebastien Grainger is supposedly in the middle of recording his solo record, and the same goes for Jewish Legend ( ex Tangiers member Josh Reichmann )..I also hear that Josh is bringing ex Thrush Hermiter Ian McGettigan along for the ride... On a quick side note has anyone [...]
Hoy fue el regreso de Mora (por lo menos por una par de programas en lo que se regresa a España, se te extrañaba y es un placer tenerlo de nuevo por acá , te queremos hermano!) ANDREW BIRD --- ARMCHAIRS (Armchair Apocrypha; Fat Possum, 2007) THE DEARS --- YOU AND I ARE A GANG OF LOSERS (Gang of Losers; Arts & Crafts, 2006) (You and I we Have the same [...]

<img src=" http://img401.imageshack.us/im g401/9320/25570sebastiengraing ertj9.jpg" alt="Sebastien Grainger" Before they split last year, Death from Above 1979 were one of my favourite bands - they seemed to be one of the few groups who actually seemed to understand dance music too, their songs loaded with grooves and dynamics - no doubt helped by the general lack of guitars. As the duo went their separate ways, bassist Jesse F. Keeler made music with MSTRKRFT (who you're more than likely aware of, with their excellent remixes and slightly less good album ) and vocalist/drummer Sebastien Grainger is [...]

Lots and lots of musicians doing the solo thing these days; some as a side project and some because their former band is kaput. However, in all cases, it gives us some new music that oftentimes shows a new twist on a familiar voice. Here are three songs that've been getting alot of playtime in my head of late. The lead singer of the Decemberists always seems to release some good solo stuff. (I would, however, like to see him veer a little of the trodden path.) Remember the Morrissey covers tour-only [...]

That MSTRKRFT post the other day got me thinkin'... "What's the other dude from DFA 1979 doing?". Well, that dude, Mr. Sebastien Grainger , is working on a solo record. Take a listen (it's kinda heavy and kinda poppy/dancey): "When You Got Out" (mp3) Quick Aside: Here's Sebastien on Myspace mp3s..."MYSPACE MP3 COMPRESSION = SHIT i didn't realise that myspace compressed the downloadable versions of songs down to 96kbps! that's some narly shit!" Non-Podcast BONUS: "The Rhythm Method (Instrumental)" (mp3)

When Death From Above 1979 announced their breakup, it didn't come as that big of a surprise to a lot of people. Little news had come out of them in a while and Jesse seemed to be fairly involved in MSTRKRFT . Once the breakup was announced, Jesse wasted no time investing himself fully in MSTKRFT and has been able to successfully record, remix and tour enough so that he is no longer just "that guy who used to be in DFA1979." Sebastien, however, seems to have been fairly quiet [...]
Ok so every father, son, wizard and goblin knows what Jesse Keeler 's been doing with himself since DFA1979 called it time. But what about his former drum buddy Sebastien Grainger ? Well he's on the comeback trail, currently writing material for a new record of his own, there is 2 tracks you can hear on his MySpace . The one called When You Go Out smacks of Ratatat plus [...]
