I was never a fan of the original version of this track featuring Sebastien Grainger but this reworking/remix/part II is fantastic. It is so Timbaland. Such a big synth part and auto tune a la The Dream/T-Pain all over the Sebastien's vox. DatA - Rapture Part. II (feat. Sebastien Grainger) DatA Myspace

DatA's Rapture is one of my favorite tracks out this year. This version of the track, Rapture Part 2, is a completely different version. It sounds more like a new hip hop/pop song that Justin Timberlake was supposed to get, but still keeps it's elements of DatA and Sebastien Graingers awesome vocals. Enjoy! This shit is HOTTTT!! Also don't forget to download my new End of Summer Mix . It has the Pacific remix of DatA's Rapture in it. DatA - Rapture Part II DatA - Rapture Part II [...]

Ex DFA1979 drummer/vocalist. American Names Digital EP available through Saddle Creek . Sebastien Grainger - American Names
Sébastien Tellier is so French. He is such a character. He posses a stage presence that is comedic yet somehow uber sexy. Those Europeans have it down. Sébastien Tellier's show is over the top to the point that it is absurd. It was an emotional rollercoaster of pure pop bliss that oozed with sexuality to the saddest of love songs all laced with intertwining synth lines. Tellier showed the audience how much of Serge Gainsbourg every Frenchman posses. He kept the audience glued to him and his ridiculous cataract sunglasses, pink pants, and [...]

I really loved DFA1979 and so I was excited to hear Sebastien Grainger ex-drummer and singer doing the vocals for a Does It Offend You, Yeah? track cause I adore his voice. Since then I discovered that he's been doing a lot of stuff alone. The old name is The Rhythm Method, new name is Sebastien Grainger & The Mountains. The Mountains is basically an imaginary band. With the other half of DFA in MSTRKRFT you could expect something dancey but it's not. Grainger signed to Saddle Creek as their second Canadian artist and the label used [...]

Sebastien Grainger used to be the drummer and vocalist for Death from Above 1979, now he has gone solo and signed with Saddle Creek. He has issued the recently released "American Names" digital EP and Canada-only 7". He will also be relasing his first album called "Sebastien Grainger and the Mountains". He explains on his myspace that "Sebastien Grainger and The Mountains is not really a band, it's the idea of a band.". You can download the title track from the EP, 'American Names' below. There are a lot of cool sebastiens out there ( sebastiAn , sebastien tellier ) but without offending the others I must say Sebastien Grainger is the best to ever go by that name! You might know him from the post-hardcore heroes Death From Above 1979 , or the dude who screams "LET'S MAKE OUT!!! " repeatedly on the Does It Offend You, Yeah? song of the same name. Well, I for one have been waiting anxiously for new music from the vocal half of DFA79 (JFK is the other half, he is now [...]

Ever since Death From Above 1979 broke up, I've spent a good amount of time trying to figure out what Sebastien Grainger (the member that DIDN'T end up in MSTRKRFT) has been doing. One dance-y jam leaked at the end of 2006 that I was a big fan of, but then over a year later, I put up other new songs that went off in a whole other direction. Needless to say, I was pretty confused as to the drastic differences between the older solo material and the newer material, but now it seems [...]

The ex-DFA1979 thrasher, drummer, and vocal genius Sebastien Grainger is back in the spotlight, having inked a deal with Saddle Creek Records . His debut full length is set to release in October, but to hold the fans over, dude has released a four track EP dubbed American Names . If you're already sold on it, you can purchase the Digital EP on iTunes HERE , otherwise, you find the tracklisting and download below. Three cheers for new music. American [...]

Variations of this tune have been floating around the internet for months (via Myspace mostly), but I've been waiting for the official version to post it. That time has finally come, so without further ado, from Sebastien Grainger 's new digital EP, American Names , "Ways to Come Home" is a humdinger of a song that is epic and sultry all at once. Crescendoing from Grainger's well-honed vocal delivery into a veritable rock symphony, this tune is a complex and rewarding listen from start to finish. Sebastien [...]
Sebastien Grainger and The Mountains - American Names DFA 1979: much-loved, very much broken-up. A lot of people made noise about MSTRKRFT (Keeler's first-strike, pre-Justice blog house act?) when they came out with their record, but I think perhaps that it's Sebastien Grainger that everyone should be paying their hectic attention to- not only did he release a blistering little split 7" last year under his given name (the song, "When You Go Out", was one of the things I listened to incessantly while writing, and it's beat-beam architecture, coupled with Sebastien's vigorously [...]

A new year brings new music, new bands, and new opportunities. Here are some of the bands that I've recently discovered and enjoyed. The album is a mixed bag but this song is catchy as hell. Really, I can listen to this one over and over again. MP4: These New Puritans - "Elvis" I wasn't much of a fan of DFA1979 but I have yet to hear a Sebastien [...]

I'm not exactly sure how long these songs have been up but that doesn't matter - what matters is that songs by Sebastien Grainger & The Mountains are available to stream on Sebastien's website. If the name sounds familiar, that's because Sebastien was the other half of Death From Above 1979 , and I posted about his solo material a little over a year ago, before he joined up with three other guys to create the full band. I'm assuming that the songs have been up since [...]

Friday was a very cold day. Walking around between concerts arguably did not help at all and we ended up getting very exhausted and cold. We first went to the free concert, part of the Grey Cup festival. First off the stage was badly done with a 6-foot high dog-type fence which was like 5 feet back from the stage. The fence was constantly pushed forward (by the screaming 14-year olds) but who could blame them? It was a shitty fence and this is a thumbs down to the Grey Cup organizers. The first band we [...]

What a weekend.... NXNE was a blast as usual. Tried to get in to see Sebastien Grainger on saturday at the Horseshoe but I was knocked away by a huge line-up (even for delegate badges). Timing never seems to be right for me to check this guy out (last time he played Toronto was opening for Bloc Party , I couldn't find the funds to make it out). You might recognize Sebastien's voice as the singer/drummer from super-two-piece Death From Above 1979 . The band parted ways, Jesse Keeler's [...]

I made the trip way uptown Saturday night to see Bloc Party at the United Palace , the church/theatre best known for being Reverend Ike 's HQ, which is now booking rock shows. The building itself is absolutely beautiful, with an insane amount of fancy latticework, artwork and ornaments throughout. The place is amazingly easy to get to, only a couple blocks from a stop on the A line, and about a minute from the George Washington Bridge if you are coming in from Jersey. The downside is that [...]
