They are playing at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday night as part of Vivid Live Festival , the coming week they will be in Melbourne supporting The Temper Trap on their national tour and have also just released a limited edition 12" single that contains two remixes for '32, the lead single from last year's excellent +Dome . On top of all this, the trio have been writing some pretty excellent new [...]

Golden Plains Sixxx took place over the weekend at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre in Victoria. It's the relaxed festival that hosts a mixed bag of artists on one stage over a long weekend. It has become a real highlight for me not just because it winds up the summer music season but because it is a really bloody good festival. From kind and very beautiful people to incredibly diverse and talented artists, good food and great camping areas to plenty of amenities and fantastic staff, Golden Plains has it figured out. I covered a bunch of the oz bands and [...]

If this album remained 'underground', strictly for the ears of the coolest 'sound foragers' then that would be a crying shame

Well, it's that time of the year again where everybody and they mamas drop a list of their favorite albums that came out this past year. I was actually pretty close to not putting together a... Read the rest on Speakerboxxx.com

Photo By Keitha Haycock. I've been sitting on this mix tape for quite some time now, it's had a fair amount of changes and tracks added. It's the fourth addition to the "For We Are Young & Free" series, to be honest I really enjoy scouring through tracks to see what works together. I hope you enjoy this edition. Featuring are Australian artists such as: Leagues, The Rubens, The Sunny Days, Bearhug, Pageants, Oliver Tank, The Grates/Whyte Fang, Seekae, Bell Weather Department, Faith Lee, Lynton & Mushu . Don't forget, [...]

As the days are getting colder, so does the music we listen to. To get you a little prepared for the (North European) winter, I cooked up a little mixtape featuring some of my favourite electronic and soundscape producers I've stumbled upon this year, wrapped up in a dark, electronic cloak. All though it's mainly focused on tunes from 2011, a few of the tracks dates a few year back as well — more precisely the Jensen Sportag and Seekae remixes. A few of these tracks have also just barely been released — for [...]

I'm ashamed to say that I hadn't heard of Seekae before CMJ when I saw them at the Making Time/RVNG showcase at Le Bain but...there it is. I had initially gone to see Twin Shadow, but surprisingly walked away most impressed by this Sydney synth-master trio. Their live set was energetic and their music was experimental yet still accessible. Going into the show, I didn't fully know what to expect but what I heard took me by surprise and got my hips a-swingin'. It was heavy-synths meets hip hop beats with an underlying ambient aura. Basically everything and more that [...]

Chris Daly owns at least four Traci Lords albums. Look, I'll be honest, I was initially kind of disappointed when I learned I was going to review the new Seekae album and not the new Seka album. Let's be honest, it's not every day that a 70s/80s porn icon makes a beat album. Apparently, it's not any day at all, but what can you do? Fortunately, you don't have to be into DVDA to recognize Seekae's latest, +Dome , for the total and complete beast it is. [...]
The entire 2011 CMJ Music Marathon lineup has been posted. CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival is proud to announce that its latest slate of performing acts and artists is its boldest, most exhaustive yet. Coming in at just under 900 bands, this third round maintains the same adventurous programming CMJ has offered for the last three decades. We couldn't possibly list every single name here (though we certainly can on our website), so here's a quick A-Z shout-out to whet your appetite while your browser loads: [...]

Seekae are a musical force to be reckoned with. Apart from being one of my personal favourite acts to come out of our country, Seekae are a shining star in the mosaic of Australian electronic artists. Since the release of their debut album ' The Sound Of Trees Falling On People ' in 2010, the three Sydney natives have refused to scale back the hurricane of success they have generated. ' +Dome ' was released earlier this year with critical acclaim, catapulting Seekae into the international arena. Albeit, last Thursday was my first [...]
