( email | facebook | linkedin ) Fifty tracks would have been more like it. So much great material has wound up on the editing room floor that it's downright painful to send this to press. But we've talked enough this year, so we'll send it to press anyway. Here they are, the top 25 songs of 2010. The list comes straight from the iPod, with no other modus or operandi. What an unbelievable year: [...]

What's even more interesting than Danielson's pop-gospel music is the story behind frontman, Daniel Smith. The original Smith band, Danielson Family, could have been a reincarnation of the Partridge family. At very young ages, the family children would play musical instruments and put on performances for family and friends. In Daniel Smith's teens, he had a spiritual epiphany and started to write songs. The family band were known for Smith's screechy vocals, inthralling synchronizations, and theatrical costumes. At some of their unforgettable live shows, they would dress in nurse uniforms or Smith would perform in a nine-foot tall tree that [...]

Frank Yang One might think that after last weekend's three-day salute to the '90s I'd be ready to get back to the 21st century, musically-speaking, but instead last Wednesday night turned the dial on the wayback-machine even further - Chapterhouse was in town. The North American leg of their reunion tour, which began in late 2009, was delayed from May until this Fall due to volcanic ash though the Toronto show was cancelled earlier for reasons unknown. Hogtown was back on for the new dates, however, and at a larger venue no [...]

For some reason I haven't got round to listening to the new Serena Maneesh 'S-M 2: Abyss in B Minor' album in full, bit silly because I liked what I'd heard (was a wee bit 'Vanishing Point' era Primal Scream) and I enjoyed their debut. Even though this Stereolab remix has essentially been turned into a Stereolab song, I'm most deff gonna be turning my ears towards S-M 2: Abyss in B Minor this weekend.

Serena-Maneesh and Efterklang don't have all that much in common. Both bands hail from Scandanavia and both are coming to the U.S., which seems to be where any comparisons would cease. Still, they are both awesome bands and we're thrilled to be giving one lucky reader the chance to see both bands when they hit... Read More
