Apparently we should be on the look out for a new Sergius Gregory album by the looks of this, so why not have a 'cover-song of the day' for it? Sergius Gregory creates atmosphere in(stead of) music. It is partially ambient, partially folk based and it drips with the aforementioned atmosphere. The Morrissey cover gives a more gentle drift than the truly downtrodden Morrissey lyrics provide on paper. The lyrics in Gregory's delivery seem more of an account of sadness instead of an internal self loathing that you might expect from this particular track. Either way it is [...]

![Sergius Gregory: Sounds Like People [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3352866_lg.jpg)
Somewhere deep in the forests of Homer, Alaska there must be some sort of euphoric yet catastrophic scenery. Knowing that Sergius Gregory recorded his debut album, Sounds Like People , in such desolate conditions actually brings much perspective to the organic and soothing sounds littered throughout the album. There seems to be a mixture of joy and pain that nobody but Sergius could truly explain; it has left a gaping hole in his work that allows us to make personal interpretations based on our own fears and emotions. What a [...]

Debut album from Sergius Gregory is now out on Saint-Loup Records (April 1st release) and while I haven't heard the entire thing, its a damn good album. What? How do I know? Sometimes you just do. Why is this album going to be good? Well, let's see. The guy has an amazing back story. Living in a train tunnel? Moving to Alaska to create music? Them moving to Hawaii and recording in a shed? Then moved back to Alaska to make even more music. Yeah. This is the first release on the [...]

So every once and a while I have a week where I find lots of stuff from others and simply need to pass it on. It's not really original but it helps putting a post out when I have nothing original to say myself. nuff said. ~~ Craig at Songs:Illinois gave me the heads up on the new Ben Weaver album and indicates that he thinks it is the Ben Weaver album he has been waiting for. I think I have been waiting for it as well. Check out the post on [...]

Well this song of the day isn't really mine, but taken as a recommendation from someone who I already admire. I read a music recommendation over on Rock Torch that came from Lotte Kestner (Anna-Lynne Williams) and it really blew me away - it is soo good. The recommendation as you can tell from the title of this post is from Sergius Gregory who I really wasn't aware of and now I am kicking myself. To not steal any more thunder from Ms. Williams, please check out her recommendation on Rock Torch HERE . [...]
Some people have a quirky backstory in an annoying, forced way. Some people just have things happen to them, and so it seems with my subject today. Born in Pennsylvania, moved to a tunnel underneath Manhattan, relocated to a monastery on the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, studied postgrad in New York, moved to Hawaii... He now lives in Homer, Alaska and produces music from what seems along the lines of a garden shed. Sergius Gregory. As you can see, he also has the kind of name that inspires enigma and speculation. Sergius Gregory from Alaska. I often wonder [...]
