Things happen quickly. Good times are had. New friends are made. Fresh experiences teach us about ourselves and the world. There's always that one person who wants to drag you out of the present and into the past. Don't bother. It's not worth the effort. Just keep rolling. But remind yourself to take a moment [...]
Friends, Invalids, Basement-dwelling agoraphobics, lend me your ears! It's time for another Sunday Mix Tape, and have I ever got "the goods" for you. You've probably been asking yourselves why I am not posting daily MP3s anymore, or why the treasures from my collector's slum have been few and far between these past few weeks. The reason is, I've been advised to watch what I post in regards to the music I often share here. Cryptic, yes, but I am not really one to test boundaries. So until further notice there might be less music than many of you click [...]
Ace is the "wild guy in the group" who likes doing mad trickz on his bike, while "AZN Thunda" AKA Brett has a "hard exterior but a soft inside, just like mochi (being from Asia of course)". This is the bio provided of Teengirl Fantasy – actually consisting of Oberlin College students Nick Weiss and [...]
Some things bear worth repeating. Feu Thérèse is one of them, as I feel exposing their music right now would be dramatically more effective than it was in 2007, when I found myself gushing over their debut, Ça Va Cogner. They had apparently split that same year, but their permanent elusiveness had prevented anyone from [...]

of course they can also be prone to pretentiousness and a general air of self-importance, but sometimes you need that in a band, you know? ::: godspeed you! black emperor - storm ::: ganger - cats, dogs and babies jaws ::: maserati - 12 16 ::: rodan - tooth fairy retribution manifesto ::: dianogah - eating cake ::: god is an astronaut - radau ::: the mercury program - over this land ::: shipping news - the march song ::: emery reel - his hammer is my axe ::: set fire to flames - steal compass / drive [...]

Today was one of those "I hate my life" days, but since I came home from work things are slowly turning around. Maybe a little Sunday Mix Tape will help sooth my frazzled nerves. RULES for uninitiated noobs : With roughly 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I'll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see [...]
This week marked a week of "ends" in my life. I'm officially cutting off buying records for the next month (dropped $300 on one record is...like...I don't even want to talk about how dumb I feel right now). I'm done free-spending in general (I just bought an expensive camera, too). LOST is over for the next eight or nine months. I ended my boycott of the beach, put on a bathing suit and spent a day at the shore. I don't know, some other shit ended too. That's why today's mix tape is called "The End." [...]

Photography by Luis Cardia Our unofficial Mixtape Week continues unabated!!! This time, mixologist & beloved Society member Lloyd Ffafnir brings his latest and greatest mixtape to our ears. The theme? Spring. Seems rather appropriate, though the weather can't seem to figure out what IT wants to be (stoopid mother nature, but then again, today IS gorgeous), cold, hot, warm, rain, sun, wheeeee! But by the will of the mixtape (by the power of Greyskull), we will force upon mother earth the sun & shine [...]

Did you all remember to deprive yourselves of one hour of sleep this morning? I sure did! I had to be at work early and the entire day just kind of crept by like the slowest, most excruciating event since...uh...that presentation I had to give for English class my senior year of high school. Sure, on those rare occasions when I actually eat lunch (Sundays only), it usually revitalizes my spirits, but for some reason today it made me even more tired. Oh well. Two more days until my "weekend", and LOST . Too bad Top Chef [...]

Sunday, cruddy Sunday. Many of you have to return to work tomorrow. I'm sorry. Some of you worked all weekend like I did. I'm sorry. Some of you are out of work and don't even know what day of the week or month it is. Uh...I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm actually kind of jealous. Killdozer is playing here tonight. I've been counting down the days since I read about their mini US tour on the Electrical Audio forum. Hopefully they'll play a good set and fill me with great joy. Slower. Louder. Louder! Slower! [...]

"Songs From the House of Death, or How To Make It Through to the End of a Relationship." Gavin Bryars - Titanic Hymn (Autumn) All Strings (The Sinking of the Titanic / 1995 ) From the house of death there is rain. From rain is flood and flowers. And flowers emerge through the ruins of those who left behind stores of corn and dishes, turquoise and bruises from the passion of fierce love. Luciano Cilio - Terzo quadro (da Dialoghi [...]

In case you've forgotten, Futurama returned today. Bender's Big Score is now available on DVD at your local big box store, I imagine. Here's a cool interview I found with David X. Cohen, which sheds a lot of light on the process of making the feature-length epic, as well as details about how Comedy Central is going to air "new" episodes starting in 2008. I still haven't found out how to get in touch with the people who make that show, I think I could write the greatest Futurama episode of all time. Other [...]

It's days like these I wish more people would offer to contribute to this page... Remember Livejournal? I mean, you had one right? And if you didn't, you had a Geocities website or a Tripod website or a Fortunecity website where you wrote about the events of your life, right? Well, I think I had all of those. I had a Geocities page that contained a transcription of my family history as delivered by two drunk uncles at a religious gathering, a series of inside jokes and quotes for friends to read, and a short story about hunting [...]

Ubi est mea anaticula cumminosa? While I won’t bother going into what the specific tracks sound like, its mostly an ambient sounding half hour mix that moves back and forth between sparse and overwhelming songs. The list was assembled around 3 o clock in the morning after one of those insomniac nights I'm constantly having lately, so today I just might switch to sleeping pills instead of listening to drifting music... I hope I wake up tomorrow. The Wind- up bird - [...]

I need to get the F-U-C-K outta Texas for a while...it's too damn hott. I'll be back in a week or so (or never). In the meantime, listen to this stuff: Set Fire to Flames_rites of spring reverb Ninja High School_shake it off Archie Bronson Outfit_dart for my sweethart
