While the interview proceeded normally as Lydon discussed touring with Public Image Limited , recording and songwriting, the situation soured when the death of former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher was brought up. Light in the Attic Records has announced that they will be bringing Public Image Limited 's debut full length, First Issue , to the United State for the first time on June 18, 2013 . The band was the notable second outing from Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon and eschewed the Pistols' stripped down punk for a variety of influences including rock, dub, folk, and pop. In its opening bars, the title track from Beach Fossils' sophomore album Clash The Truth bears an uncanny resemblance to the opening riff for the Sex Pistols' "Pretty Vacant." Thankfully, this isn't some kind of symbolic warning as to what lies ahead. We were fascinated to see yesterday afternoon that Dangerous Minds' latest YouTube discovery was... a vintage radio ad for The Velvet Underground. Quite apart from the fact that the ad in question is weird as hell, we were amazed by the simple existence of such a promo for a Velvet Underground album, and the whole thing got us thinking: If Lou Reed et al were getting plugged on radio back in the day, surely there must have been other, similarly unexpected slots? Of course,  Say Anything  has "In Your Eyes",  Goodfellas  has "Layla",  Apocalypse Now  has "The End",  Fight Club  has "Where Is Your Mind", but a cover song in a movie is just different. A cover song in a movie elevates the drama - ascribing all kinds of meaning and sentiment to the music being played. All of a sudden this song that we're pretty sure we've heard before is chewing the scenery and the actors fade into the background.
