"In these times of hate and pain. We need a remedy to take us from the rain. Jealousy, a little greed. I've been thinking of what I need....I Need A Freak!" That little piece of modern day wisdom comes from classic slab of libidinal charged electrofunk (and partial NYC No-Wave crossover) I Need A Freak by Sexual Harrassment . For years it had pretty much languished as an obscure dj cult classic until a recent renaissance of sorts brought it back into the [...]
Spoek goes funk (other hot goodies are of course thrown in for good measure) with this mix made to promote the new "Sexual Harrassment" remix EP on Citinite (a four track EP featuring the likes of Dam Funk , Sweat X and Jimmy Edgar taking on Sexual Harrassment – a short lived funk/punk group from the 80s). "What follows is a dope mix featuring the likes of Kraftwerk, Grace Jones, Timbaland, Too Short, Wiley, Sun Ra alongside Jimmy Edgar, Rashad, Magic Mike, Sweat.X and more. Just [...]
My apologies: these songs have been kicking around in my head for a lot longer than I meant for them to. Not entirely my fault; my headphones went tits-up two weeks ago and without them my blogging ritual (relentless repeat during morning and evening walking commute, shorthand texts to myself on woefully out-of-date cell phone, [Read Full Post...]
This song surely ranks as the perfect soundtrack to that moment every Friday when you leave the office at about a half past five. Walk to the corner, saunter into the local store and demand four cold ones. Drain every last drop. Sexual Harassment - If I Gave You A Party
Freaked. A movie so underrated and unappreciated that you probably have never heard of it, and that's a damn shame. Like the trailer says, "Coming soon to... a theater.", this one came and went and no one noticed. All I know is my friend Mike B and I stumbled across this one and never looked back. Seriously though, written, co-directed and starring Bill S. Preston Esq ( Sorry, I mean Alex Winter) . How rad is that? It was billed as "a thinking man's stupid comedy" and it delivered. 80's favorites (Bobcat!) galore relishing in camp nonsense and [...]

...because he may try to get on your wife, whether she's with it or not. According to various reports, a plane toting a banner which read "Reggie Miller Stop Pursuing Married Women" flew over several SoCal beaches near Miller's hometown of Malibu over the weekend, including over Hermosa during a major beach volleyball event. Deadspin has a hunch: this might be related to a restraining order taken out (but not filed) against Miller by Alex von Furstenburg, a wealthy Malibu neighbor whose fiancée, Ali Kay, has allegedly been stalked by [...]

sexual harassment - "i need a freak" (download) Released in 1983 on Heat Records. Classic early 80's, somewhat silly electro. This track inspired a pretty big hit from a few years ago. See if you can guess what it was.
If you've been to a gig in London this week then you have probably seen PENS. Our new favourite all-girl lofi fuzzpop trio has been spreading fun and awesomeness throughout the capital, supporting the likes of Telepathe and Jay Reatard. After the jump Amelia from the band talks to us about swans, eyelash tinting and Sexual Harrassment.

Fences, 2008 by Driss Ouadahi. Oil on canvas. Sexual Harrassment - K.I.S.S.I.N.G (1983)

I've always said that DJs should be heard and not seen, but after compiling this batch of singles recorded by DJs, I'll have to update that aphorism to: DJs shouldn't be seen or heard, unless they're on the radio being DJs. (I promise not to keep this in mind next year during the WFMU marathon finale.) With few exceptions, most DJs who tried to parlay their radio fame into chart success ended up creating 45 rpm embarrassments. Of course, radio is full of DJs who went on to succesful recording careers - Sly Stone, Terry [...]
