![The Shack – One & Only EP [Faze Action Records] (2011)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3918812_lg.jpg)

The new EP from The Shack on Faze Action's label is pretty darn cool! Love that bass line and sample! The whole package also includes a remix from the label owners so you know its good. Plus its out in just a few days on the 8th December so keep eyes peeled. The Shack - One & Only EP by faze action

We don't usually support too many things happenin' on the Sunset Strip, but rowdy thrusting humperific drippy eyeliner ball and boob grabbers Semi Precious Weapons puts on a good show, and the band will be playing every Wednesday at On The Rox between Feb 23 and March 30 while they're in town working on an album. The monthlong series is called EMPIRE, a rockNroll installation party. Then they return to touring with meat and eggs Lady Gaga. Perhaps Gaga will go gaga on stage a little bit with the band? Only one way to find out. RSVP required. Email RSVP@SEMIPRECIOUSWEAPONS.com

2 Hot mixes from Elite Force here. 1 being the heat that he always brings in his mixes and the other being somewhat different. The first is a mix for Annie Nightingale's BBC Radio 1 show. It contains an exclusive new Zodiac Cartel mix of Tai - Powerchords. The other mix is where Simon was asked to "'use at least 10 of you all-time favourite tracks from any genre in a 10-minute mix". After listedn to this mix I'd say he has excellent taste. Much props for droppin one of my favorite Joy Division songs in this mix! [...]

by james eskeldson Great. Now Radio Shack thinks it's an indie rock band. In an effort to seem cool, personable, and "down with the kids," the lame electronics company has temporarily rebranded itself as "The Shack." Woah. This must be one cool company. Their name reminds me of The Strokes. Maybe hot chicks will start hanging out there and we can (finally) do lines off the scanners. Lulz I wish. IMHO this rebranding is sooo lame. [...]

What do THE BLUETONES and PIXIES have in common? Both bands' upcoming visits to Scotland will see them play an entire set made up of an old album, respectively Expecting To Fly (1996) and Doolittle (1989). Delving into the dusty archives of your back catalogue to promote a tour has developed into a common trend, especially for those artists whose heydays are becoming increasingly distant memories. Even a group as revered [...]

OK, part two of my attempt to fill in the blanks of Rhino's worthy but incomplete Brit Box chronicling the UK indie scene from 1985 - 2000. (Part One, or Disc Five, is here.) Mind you, these are filtered through...

Shack has the reputation of being one of the most underrated and unluckiest bands during the Brit-pop explosion in the 90s. After Mick Head's cult 80s jangle-pop group Pale Fountains disbanded, he enlisted the help of his brother John Head to form Shack. Both guitarists linked bassist Pete Wilkinson and drummer Iain Templeton as the rhythm section and began work on their debut 1988 debut, Zilch . Years before Oasis or Blur even formed, Zilch served as a barley known staple for future works in the genre. The story of their next [...]
Love's 'Forever Changes' is one of those Mojo approved essentials in any collection of 60's classics. It sits alongside Revolver, Pet Sounds and Younger than Yesterday with very good reason. By turns beautiful and sinister it sounds like no other album from its era and reflects the uneasy atmosphere of the West Coast in the late 60's. It also reflects the dysfunctional genius of the people involved in its making, especially the mercurial Arthur Lee, who died very recently. Love tracks have appeared all over Blogland recently so I thought I would post two tracks that name-check Arthur and a [...]
