Two of Canada's finest MCs, Shad and Cadence Weapon , team up for "Homie", the first single off Shad's upcoming EP with producer/DJ Skratch Bastid. They're calling the project The Spring Up and apparently it's due out this month. Damn, way to sneak this one up on us, Shad! I ain't mad, though, especially considering he also has a new full-length, Flying Colours , dropping later this year. You can stream the Biggie-sampling "Homie" below. [ via ]
Shad releases a new track "Peace," demo track not appearing on the upcoming Flying Colours album. Produced by Skratch Bastid.
Ontario rapper Shad drops a new demo titled "Peace," which exposes some harsh realities of our current musical state. In Shad's opinion, pointing out out the world's flaws in hip hop has become old hat. Beats and trap tales have become what's hot, but Shad is still looking for peace. Now I'm really looking forward to this guy's next album! / via /
Shad has a new album on deck, but before he dug in to the material that would be part of the project, it appears he is letting go of some loosies first. Labeled as a demo, "Peace" remains a very relevant piece of hip-hop. And, as Shad usually does best, there are a ton of valuable lessons to be taken into consideration on "Peace". Including the inspirational slice of audio that closes out the progressive tune. Stay tuned as we continue to keep our eyes open for new Shad news and material.
T.I.'s new Hustle Gang wants everybody to know they're not hard to find. That's why we have Young Dro, Shad, Spodee, T.I. and Mystikal on "Here I Go," produced by FKi. Produced should be used loosely here because the beat's no more than a slowed down flip of Mystikal's "Here I Go." Given his familiarity with the tune, Mystikal also is the one who creates the standout verse here. Just another good example of how a post-prison rapper can resuscitate their career I suppose. Prior to his pen stay, I definitely wasn't [...]

After a rather lengthy hiatus, Mr. J. Medeiros and Stro Elliot have teamed back up to form the Procussions . This quick-hitting, 5-song EP comes in preparation of the Procussions self-titled full-length, which is due out later this year. There are a few features on the EP, too, although the most exciting is certainly coming from Canadian MC Shad on " Today ". While this is just a preview of what is to come later this summer, it is a fairly good indicator of what to expect from this duo of veteran hip-hop artists. Head over to [...]
Stream: The Procussions - The Procussions EP Mr. J. Medeiros and Stro Elliot, together known as The Procussions, have offered up their new, self-titled EP for free streaming in The DJBooth. The official prelude to the summer release of their junior album (also self-titled), the project packs five original jams from the Los Angeles underground duo. Included are reader-approved song releases "On a Mountain," "The Fringe" and "Today." Stro Elliot handles all production throughout the EP, except on track three, which features additional boardwork as well as vocals from Logan. [...]
Frank Yang If you're ever debating what to do on a given evening of either Canadian Musicfest or NXNE , you can always do far worse than to simply post up at either The Horseshoe or Lee's Palace for the entire evening. These Toronto anchors always host a solid bill of bands, both local and international, buzzy and unheralded, covering a swath of genres that will surely have something to delight the ears. Granted, I was there with a more specific mandate than to just take in some music - I wanted to see [...]
I must admit I'm not familiar with The Procussions actual music. I've heard the name mentioned plenty of times, usually in fairly reverential terms by underground hip hop enthusiasts. I've also heard a number of songs from 1/2 of the group, Mr J. Medeiros ( even reviewing him back in aught-seven ) and I'm vaguely familiar with the production work of the other member, Stro Elliot, but not their collective work. For that reason, I was interested in hearing this new song from them off their upcoming new album (their first in 7 years), but it also gets an auto [...]
This is good stuff right here. I don't care what you say...
The Procussions are back after a 7 year hiatus with a new track "Today" featuring Shad and J Kyle Gregory. New album out in April! http://www.theprocussions.com/
Here's a new joint from The Procussions, as they finish up their first new album in seven years. An official single from that LP is expected to drop next month, with the release of kickstarter LP to soon follow. "Today" is a great wake-up record, featuring Canada's Shad. Listen and download below.
It's been nearly seven years since the release of the Procussions ' acclaimed sophomore album, 5 Sparrows for 2 Cents . But this coming April, the duo will make their grand return with their third full-length. We're getting our first impression of the LP with "Today", a jazzy collaboration with PIMB favorite Shad and trumpeter J Kyle Gregory. It sounds like these guys haven't lost a step despite their long time off, and that leaves me extremely hopeful for that upcoming LP. Stream and/or download "Today" below.

Colin Medley This here is another of those posts that, were it a category on Jeopardy , would be called "Potpourri" on account of it being a whole lot of this and that with only the passports of the artists mentioned in common. And I'll start with Toronto's METZ because, well, I haven't used one of their photos yet and my posting process is really that random. The trio has been making a lot of noise - literally and figuratively - on the back of their self-titled debut , and while it [...]

Well I'll drop you five sweet songs that you should listen to once a week, that will help you get over your mid-week slump and set sail towards the ever-nearing weekend! Ready? Okay! Jamie McDell - Life In Sunshine This lass is as beautiful as she is talented, and I happily purchased a signed copy of her debut album Six Strings And A Sailboat [...]
Former Eurovision contestant Sébastien Tellier gains the help of French duos Statue and Apolline D’Ash for a wonderful motionless bounce of cross-pollinated techno & house, alongside Apolline D’Ashs’ version that seems longer than the time stamp insists. Following on from a progressive journey of space, time and sound courtesy of Apolline D’Ash, Statue solider on with a gentle, but dirty n’ phazy ‘We Own The World’ take, simplified greatly by ‘Heaven’ - which ups the disco glitter spins two-fold. A satisfying resolution results in a Gossip remix marred [...]
