[ 2nd Drop Records ] Seven Lies immediately lets you know you're where you are: right there in the long, romantic middle of UK bass. The sounds and feeling are familiar, though Djrum asserts his debt to hip-hop more aggressively than most other producers in this style. This debut makes it look like the London producer has mastered the form enough to transcend it. Felix Manuel starts by slowing [...]

You want a lite beer? Hit the Radisson. This is top shelf liquor. "Stormy Monday", barreled and crafted by Zilla Rocca & The Shadowboxers, aged in oak casks by Has-Lo (Mello Music Group), who produces and guests on the mic, chiseled with ice picks by The Kid Daytona (LRG Clothing's own) before sitting in front of you in this chalice. Dedicated to dark wood paneled speakeasy's and sultry women who are good till the last drop, "Stormy Monday" isn't about a quick buzz - it's holding something in a glass that lasts all night. iTunes: [...]

Lapalux drops what I'm assuming is a spare track from his recent full-length effort, Nostalchic . It's an interesting track that works in multiple phases. Structurally, it definitely throws a few twists and turns at the listener, which is maybe why it didn't make it onto the LP. Who knows? Either way, Lapalux delivers heavenly vocals set against weird, warped, wonky-style beats and synths. Enjoy! Check a review for Nostalchic here:

Lapalux's new LP Nostalchic (really his entire discograhpy) has recently been in very regular rotation at camp b3. Today the Brainfeeder artist released this nice & fine opening-the-interstellar-envel ope non-album track, "Moveoutofmyway"that we're digging just as much as anything on the album. Give it your ears below. Lapalux ( Facebook ) Rating 8.3

Apparently not making the cut on his recent Nostalchic , Lapalux generously offered this unnerving B-Side "Moveoutofmyway" (one word) featuring some vocal help from ShadowBox via his Bandcamp . Download the track for free via the site, or stream below. Nostalchic is out now via Brainfeeder . Moveoutofmyway by Lapalux (ft ShadowBox)

It would appear that Brainfeeder artist Lapalux is in the giving mood today, as he's shared a leftover cut from his recently released debut, Nostalchic . It's "Moveoutomyway", a wonderfully textured and layered listen that finds the U.K. producer teaming with ShadowBox. If you haven't listened to Lapalux just yet-for shame! ... kidding-then use this as a fine jumping off point. Just make sure you hear Nostalchic next. Download: Lapalux - "Moveoutofmyway" [Bandcamp]

I'm really into Lapalux's liberal use of bonus cuts with his new album Nostalchic. A month ago, he gave away the fantastic Busdriver collab "Forlorn", and now there's this one featuring his Pictures labelmate ShadowBox, ... read more

Three years under the curtain. Dust on the trench coat. Stomach empty. Diner windows daring you to come in and eat. After hours spots whispered in a bottle, hummed under dimly lit corners where the tables are empty. In Philadelphia, where there are no limits, no rules. Anything can go on. This is the world of Zilla Rocca & The Shadowboxers. This is Noir Hop. This is 'Weak Stomach' EP. The first release since 20102s 'Broken Clocks' EP, 'Weak Stomach' EP is a collection of shabby pulp scribbles from Zilla Rocca and his taillight chasers The [...]
The Shadowboxers ' Scott Schwartz, Matt Lipkins and Adam Hoffman mix up alternative pop, rock and southern R+B for Red Room , their full-length debut album arriving January 22 via RCAM . The Atlanta based trio recorded the successor to their introductory 2011 EP in New Orleans with producer Brady Blade ( Emmylou Harris, Dave Matthews) and engineer Chris Bell (U2, Erykah Badu ), expanding on their penchant for three-part harmonies with a soulful twist and [...]
Hip-Hop group Zion I continue to forge new ground musically on their latest LP Shadowboxing, a beat-heavy hip-hop album decidedly grittier than past projects. Always pushing the literal—and figurative—needle forward, the duo, consisting of emcee Zumbi and producer Amp Live, have once again created something experimental and heartfelt. Shadowboxing features guests such as Bassnectar, Grouch and Eligh, Collie Buddz and Goapele. A move from the live instrumentation of their last record, Shadowboxing enlists a range of producers such as Traxamillion, Timeline, DexBeats, Minnesota, who bring an unconventional, eclectic flavor to the album. With its futuristic beat, “Float,” produced [...]

New single from the winsome Error Operator, out next month. More downbeat loveliness. There's an original mix and one from Henry Krinkle (previously here ). The original mix is a thing of loveliness. The vocals from ShadowBox really work in harmony with the music. There's something of Hayling about this. It's languid and romantic in that lost love sense. Beautiful. There's a remix by lush house artist Henry Krinkle. This is lush in a dubby kind of way. It's more electronic but oddly works less well. Stick to the original mix. Error Operator knows what he's doing. [...]
Whatta nice surprise. Zion I leaked the second single from their upcoming album, ShadowBoxing , due to drop on October 2nd. "We Don't" also features the lyrical talents of Living Legends members Eligh and The Grouch. Always love to hear that deep, distinct voice from The Grouch. Super dope track coming out of the Bay area, both production and lyrics on point. Don't sleep on it! The Zion I crew will embark on a multi-city US tour just two days after their album release... and they're even coming aLLLL the way to the east coast! [...]

London-based Andrew John Collins returns as Error Operator with two highly addictive singles entitled Never I Us and Delay featuring We The Committee . The tracks characterized by hypnotic beat patterns embraced with melodic electronic atmosphere construct a serene intimacy amid a stockpile of renewable energy, powerful enough to provoke a crowd into a dancing frenzy. As an added bonus, We The Community's vocals add a final touch up to the vibe with their contribution of audible euphoria. The three track single which also features a remix contribution from ShadowBox is [...]
