A whole slew of famous bilingual musicians (and an actor) have recorded tracks for a new Serge Gainsbourg tribute album.
The legendary French singer/libertine Serge Gainsbourg is a man worth honoring, and a new tribute album called From Lulu To Gainsbourg does just that. Gainsbourg's son Lulu put together the tribute and sings about half the songs, but he also brought in an impressive array of famous people to sing his father's songs. Rufus Wainwright, for one, does a lovely version of "Je Suis Venu Te Dire Que Je M'en Vais" and shows some truly impressive French pronunciation along the way. We've got that one streaming below. As previously reported, Lulu Gainsbourg is honoring his late father, French innovator Serge Gainsbourg , with a covers album . Shane MacGowan and Sharon Shannon are the latest headline acts to be announced for the Beamish Cork Folk Festival . Both will take to the stage at the Savoy on Friday, October 1st, as part of the festival which takes place from September 30th to October 3rd in venues throughout Cork city. Tickets for the Savoy show cost €35 plus booking fee and are available from Ticketmaster and usual outlets. Other headline acts confirmed so far include Imagined Village, Eddie Reader, Beoga, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Niwel Tsumbu and the Kilfenora Céilí Band.
