Today's song is "Arcane Effigies" by Sharks . This song is off the UK punk band's debut album No Gods out March 20th on Rise Records. The album, produced by Brian McTernan (The Explosion, Hot Water Music, Cave In), swims between the rules and regulations of the iconoclastic chaos of punk rock and British indie rock. The band has a great list of vocal endorsers, including Social Distortion, The Wedding Present, The Gaslight Anthem, and Mick Jones. They were also included in NME's "100 New Bands For 20123 http://bit.ly/zHHs2C. The band just wrapped up the Fall Alternative Press [...]

December in Pennsylvania is a fickle and confused month. Mother Nature goes bi-polar all over our asses and people's behavior starts to mimic. Some days the temperature nears 60 degrees, and on those days people feel as though they've been blessed by God. You step outside on your front porch and the sun beams and the birds (whichever ones have yet to figure out which way is south) sing a beautiful melody just for you and your sense of enchantment. The soothing air caresses your skin and purifies your lungs. Your asshole-neighbor (who usually bitches [...]

A bit back I wrote to you about contributing to LA Font's Kickstarter campaign in order to help them make their second album. Today, I'm doing it again. While they may not be the same without Greg's mustache, they are still an awesome band worthy of your time and dollars. Read the details again below: There are fine lines to cross in order to create a great album. LA Font needs you to cross them too. One of our favorite discoveries of aught eleven, LA Font, have started a Kickstarter campaign [...]
Compared with mp3s, it takes us much longer to get around to listening to all the tracks we get sent that are for streaming only - annoyingly paid work has to take priority during the day and you can't stick these on an iPod - however, there have been a selection of corking tunes released recently that are well worth some of your ear time and maybe even paying for a download or two.... First up is the latest track from the Hold Steady front man Craig Finn's solo album Clear Heart Full [...]

UK-based band Sharks has unveiled their playfully catchy tune, "Arcane Effigies", which is the lead single from their forthcoming album, No Gods , slated for a March 20th release on Rise Records . That's right. Rise Records. Listen to this song again and then think about everyone else on Rise: Devil Wears Prada , Miss May I , Sleeping With Sirens , Attack Attack! etc. At first I didn't understand why everyone in their YouTube comments is so up in arms about this band until I rememebered exactly who all was [...]

From the Telegraph : "A diver swims alongside a Greenland shark, a rarely-seen species that looks like it has been etched from stone. They can survive for more than 200 years at depths of up to 600 metres under Arctic ice. They grow to 23-feet long and are so fearsome they have even been known to eat polar bears. Photographer Doug Perrine captured the elusive creatures when they ventured in to the warmer waters of the St Lawrence River, in North America." Holy shit! Imagine meeting one of those things in the St. Lawrence River?
