Guest post by Eliot Van Buskirk of Evolver.fm . Shazam, the fourth-most-popular iOS app of all time, plans to let Superbowl viewers tag the audio coming out of their television sets on Sunday. Tagging audio essentially provides links to online content through your smartphone's microphone, the same way that QR codes can link to stuff through your smartphone's camera, except it's arguably much easier, because you just press a button instead of taking a picture of something. < Shazam tagging Super Bowl Content [...]

Country Club is the powerhouse collaboration between two of Australia's most lauded nu-disco punks: Cassian & Shazam ! Formed after the two bonded over their fondness for croquet, caviar and spring cleaning, the seamlessly smooth transition from solo rebels to soon-to-be legendary duo is evident in their very first remix; Monkey Safari 's ' Fat Papa .' It isn't what you'd initially expect from two men with roots so firmly planted in the disco scene, showcasing their diversity as producers as they experiment with real heat and acid tinged bass lines to great [...]

Mikah Freeman, Vance Musgrove and Ross McGrath started The Aston Shuffle in 2005 in the Australian capital and their ascent has been nothing short of spectacular, especially in the last few years. Despite Ross McGrath's departure in 2008, Freeman and Musgrove have kept the flame of dancefloor-friendly electro burning with their singles, remixes and long-awaited debut album, Seventeen Past Midnight , released last year. The Aston Shuffle - Into Forever (feat. Nik Yiannikas) The album may not be as original as one could have hoped, skipping across many genres [...]
Shazam, iTunes, 30 second "samples" and crowdsourcing all get blasted in 2 minutes and 33 seconds by former Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher . The tape was made to "promote" his "High Flying Birds" album released in September on own Mash Records label. WARNING: His language is not fucking suitable for some workplaces.
When The Darkness announced they were "back" during the first half of the year, we were excited. When they continued to be "back" in the Special Guest slot before Def Leppard at this year's Download Festival, we continued to be excited. We're still a little bit excited that they are continuing to be "back" now [...]
Sorry about the extreme hiatus I imposed on the blog. Seriously intense writers block (I'm lying, I'm just fabulously lazy). If anyone is keen on writing for us, shoot me an email daft_kish@live.com and we'll have a chat! Moving on... Shazam is a name hoards of people have become familiar with over the years, with his [...]

Foxy Shazam performed at the National back in January and are making a return appearance on Wednesday, Oct. 26, this time opening for Panic! at the Disco (who I seriously thought had broken up) and Patrick Stump , the lead singer from Fall Out Boy. It's safe to say that this show attract legion of obnoxious teenage girls, so I think I will have to sit this one out (or get VIP tickets from someone nice). Foxy Shazam is seriously the only reason I would go this show. They are beyond incredible [...]

Box Codax By Stef Siepel The weekly froth! A weekly take on six tracks, most of which have recently popped up somewhere in the blogosphere. Bit of a mixed bag with a slight leaning towards house, disco, and remixes, but generally just anything that for some reason tickled the writer's fancy. Track of the week: 'Dawning' by Box Codax This song is by Nick McCarthy's side project and forms one side of a split with artist Martin Creed . [...]

I.R.S. Records may have released records from big name bands like R.E.M. and The Buzzcocks , but it didn't stop the label from folding in 1996. Now it looks like EMI and Crush Management are bringing back the label with their first signing, Foxy Shazam . Look for a new release from the boys on the resurrected label in early 2012. In the meantime, the band have some scheduled tour dates (posted below). Foxy Shazam tour dates: 10/9 - Reno, NV - KNITTING FACTORY – RENO [...]
It's been far too long since I posted around here - what's up with that? I'm not really sure, but I do know that I'm here now with a heaping serving of good music to make up for it. Today's post comes in two sections, first the more mainstream festival-style bangers, and second the more underground side of things, so feel free to browse accordingly. *Also be on the lookout for me and Sir Real's

Damn, now that's a combination. Pase Rock is one of the biggest names in boogie down party sounds, usually accompanied by massive ghettotek/electro productions. So to see funk/nu disco master Shazam's name in the same track title, surprise was the first thing I felt, then confidence that this would be amazing, then a frantic panic to press play. It does not disappoint, a sexy downtempo nu disco joint, with a sensual R&B feel. This is the first thing we've heard from the Perth native in quite a while and we certainly hope that [...]

Oh Shazam, you silent casual killer. Perth's synth master wonder kid has done it again with his new remix of Pase Rock's "Nights." Everything Shazam touches turns to gold, and I cannot think of one thing he has put out that didn't impress me. You don't really hear much from him in between releases, but when they drop, it's reassurance that the nu-disco sound is here to stay. I heard he has an album in the works, so we can only hope that comes out one day. LA promoters; get Shazam in town again.
