We've raved about all of these bands for a long [...]

One of the shows I'm looking forward to this week features three of my local guitar pop favorites. She Sir has been busy writing and recording the past couple of months, and I'm excited to hear more of their sparkling new tunes at tomorrow's show at the Mohawk . They will be joined by the garage rock meets power pop sounds of Shivery Shakes and the shimmery, chillout vibes of Tiger Waves . This triple local threat is an excellent way to start off your live music weekend. [...]

>> We had hoped to have had these remarks about Hallelujah The Hills' tremendous new single prepared in time for our coverage of last weeks' The Unfolding Synchronistic Improbable event, but doing it this way will have to do. The Boston-area indie rock institution led by Ryan Walsh on Valentine's Day released "The Three Minute Mark" b/w "Meet Me In The Car," with the A-side streaming at the act's Bandcamp dojo , where we've listened to it repeatedly for days and days and days. The single is available on limited edition, hand-made CD for five [...]

[Photo: Aubrey Edwards] In our attention-deficient indie rock universe, where "flavor of the month" has devolved into "flavor of the day," music fans all too often encounter artists willing to sacrifice aspects of their art to the hype machine. Afflicted acts evince over-confident songwriting, album-leak scatter shots and hackneyed imagery. It's gotten to the point that when a band invests completely, humbly into their art alone, the audacity of such an act makes them stand out. Which brings us to Austin-based dream pop heroes She, Sir . The act first caught Clicky Clicky's attention five [...]

When I sat down to list my favorite songs and albums from 2012, Austin bands were all over it. I'm going to take that as a sign and share the local favorites that I listened to repeatedly. There's no special ranking or order here. It was harder than I expected to narrow it down to the Top 11. These are the bands that made an impression on me this year and give me reasons to be a music fan. I hope you'll discover new favorites and check them out in 2013. [...]

>> We didn't expect to be learning stuff last Saturday night when we took in the big Varsity Drag show at Midway Cafe, so when fronter (and Lemonheads co-founder) Ben Deily laid out a surprising little history lesson for us, we were caught a bit off guard. We followed up this week with Mr. Deily who graciously reiterated his tale, which concerns one of our favorite Lemonheads songs, "Mallo Cup." When Evan Dando originally brought the song to the band, it bore the title "If Only You Were Dead," the [...]

After the dance party last Wednesday night, Nathan and I decided to go local and take a stab at the new venue living in Beauty Bar's space on 7th, Holy Mountain. The bands on the bill were certainly worth two nights in a row of missing a few hours of sleep. Letting Up Despite Great Faults has one of our favorite local records of the year and She Sir played our SxSW showcase a few years back, even lending gear to use for the night, and have recently busted out a few new tracks. Click through for a [...]

Date Thursday, November 29th Location Holy Mountain Doors 9:00 PM Tickets FREE Listen folks, if you're in Austin, and you consider yourself a music fan, then you have a moral obligation to being at this show. First, Letting Up Despite Great Faults moved to our town from LA, and since then, they've done wonders, releasing the excellent [...]
It's no secret that we ATH kids have always been huge fans of local band She Sir and the beautiful hazy pop sounds they create. We've done shows with the band over the years and tried to give them the coverage they truly deserve from music aficionados in Austin. Today we're very excited to be one of the first to bring you this brand spankin' new song from the band entitled "Condensedindents". As we've said before, it would really be hard for this band to get any better, and all they do is continue [...]

I was a bit surprised to find this great new track by She Sir in my inbox. I guess you never know how people will find the things you put on the web, or when, or really expect them to. I post stuff from bands that I have never spoken too fairly regularly, via their PR folks or label sending me something or just discovering it on the music blogs that I frequent. Such was the case with She Sir originally, I found them while looking for something good to listen to - "You Could Be Tiger" fit that bill [...]
I know there's tons of shows related to ACL this weekend, but maybe that's not your thing, which is totally cool-to each his own right? I've got a couple of shows/events you should check out in case you're not doing anything associated with ACL... Friday: Austin City Locals is a great gig featuring tons of our friends like Whitman, The Sour Notes and Letting Up Despite Great Faults - The show starts at 8 PM and it's free for ALL Ages. [...]

>> For most music fans, there are usually one or two bands so beloved and pure that with each new second of recorded sound they offer, the results feel like a lovingly wrapped gift from an old friend. Here at Clicky Clicky HQ, one of those groups is Austin's thoughtful and restless She, Sir , which is touting a new, free digital single "You Could Be Tiger," available here . Like most long-term relationships, a fair amount of patience is required in order for things to bloom, and the quartet -- founded by the duo of Russell Karloff [...]
Sometimes I have a short attention span when it comes to music. For me, the best and most enjoyable songs are three minutes or less. The bonus is when that song is so good, it makes you giddy playing it again and again. One example of this is the new single , You Could Be Tiger, from Austin's "shimmerpop" quartet She Sir . It's a special summer release available as a free download and it will not be found on their upcoming album. The track clocks in at two minutes 19 seconds, and as [...]

Free music is good, right? Austin band She Sir decided it would be a great idea to release a prequel single to their forthcoming LP. I concur with their logic...it's a pretty damn good song. Beginning with chiming guitar sounds and some sexy percussion, "You Could Be Tiger" takes you on a hazy ride that could put you on the beach or at a bonfire under the stars. It also goes out with a nice bang. MP3: She Sir - You Could Be Tiger

Tweet Despite being forewarned that Austin's She Sir were about to down their shoegaze tools for their new single we were convinced otherwise when the gloriously Pale Saints sounding 'You Could Be Tiger' pounced throatwards. Ends up that the Austin 4-piece, led by Russell Karloff, haven't exactly moved the goalposts but they've scored another triumphant victory in the art of turning an age old genre into something as vital as it was in the early 902s. 'You Could Be Tiger' is short [...]

I really feel like there's a lot of great music being made in Austin lately. I know, that should come as no surprise, but some years are weaker than others, but this new jam from locals She Sir is a guaranteed hit, promising us more great music from the group in the near future. They're recording with Erik Wofford, which always seems to guarantee good things for bands here in town, and the forthcoming record from the group should definitely benefit from his work. Here's a track they're giving out as a teaser, with [...]
