MUSIC NEWS - Pink Floyd star David Gilmour has been ordered to pull down his bright yellow beach hut in East Sussex, England, because local government officials have said it's an eyesore. The rocker uses the storage shed, which is at the end of his driveway at his seafront mansion in Hove, to store his bicycles. So Radiohead have been noted to be quite into their electronic music, as you can see from their frequently updated office charts . As someone who doesn't froth at the mouth at the mention of the name Thom, this did not really interest me. Berghain, the Berlin-based night club (housed in a building once home to a power plant) has released its newest installment of 'sampler' tracks via Ostgut Ton- the club's main distributivity outlet for the artists who play there. The sheer cavernous size of the club hints at the influence the space has had on the sounds of the featured musicians, who often create huge amounts of spacial diversity within their work. The fourth set of remixed tracks from Radiohead 's The King of Limbs album has dropped from the skies. In this group, Give Up The Ghost is remixed by Thriller , Codex is remixed by Illum Sphere and Little By Little by Shed. Per the usual, I have no idea who these remixing artists are, but nonetheless I enjoyed this group, particularly Little By Little. Check out the songs above:
If you hadn't told me that Shed's remix of "Little by Little" was, in fact, a remix of the Radiohead original, I'm not sure I would have noticed. I probably would have simply loved the ghostly ramshackle beat carrying a pretty guitar figure, filed it away in my ever-growing "Best of 20113 spreadsheet, and called it a day. On the latest Radiohead Remix single, Thriller, Illum Sphere and Shed all make for one of the more subtle and nuanced releases in the series. Illum Sphere expands the already light atmosphere of "Give Up The Ghost" with a loungey, ambient take on the track, while Shed does an equally impressive number on "Little By Little", using field samples to turn the originally upbeat track in to something much darker than its' creators could have ever previously conceived. It is a truth universally acknowledged that attending a concert with fewer than 50 other people in the audience is the epitome of hipster fandom.
