Photo and autograph courtesy of A2G's massive in person autograph collection. Sheila E. According2g would like to wish Sheila Escovedo, better known as Sheila E ., a very happy 54th birthday on December 11, 2011. Sheila E.'s music has brought so much joy and happiness to my life! She's beyond amazing when you see her in concert and above all, she's a really nice person. She kindly donates her time to so many charitable causes and when you put all those things together, there are few cooler people out [...]

The highly anticipated album is finally here featuring a wide array of guest vocalists and musicians including Nia Andrews, Omar, Sheila E, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, and others. MdCL's approach to music over the years has always been fascinating, blurring genres and styles, although never sounding forced. Mark states "My whole thing with this kind of production is balancing electronics and programming with organic and live musicianship. I love for that line to be blurred almost to the point where you don't know which is which." iTunes: Mark de Clive-Lowe - Renegades

This week has been fabulous, to say the least, and last night just needed to be a calm one for me. There's no sense in trying to force something amazing to happen, because guess what? It's just not going to happen. Great things come along, they are not necessarily sought after or forced. That's why the whole idea of planning out life is both necessary and unnecessary at the same time. I know that everyone around me makes plans for everything, and I do to a certain extent as well. But the best times of my life have been absolutely [...]

Photo by G. Sheila E and G Wednesday like a river! I love Sheila E. so much! I've been a fan of her music since her brilliant debut album "The Glamorous Life" was released in 1984. Her next few albums "Romance 1600," "Sheila E. (also known as "The White Album") and "Sex Cymbal" have been in high rotation with me for over 20 years. In that time, I've seen and met Sheila E. so many times and as I am [...]

On paper it looks promising, but it's a missed opportunity.
I clicked play on "We On" because I find it mandatory to keep up with Fat Trel's material - solo, features or otherwise - and ended up watching the video [...]

Hopefully, you guys remember our Throwback Thursday post last February that featured Biomecca ; an awesome group that had a strong following at the college I attended before CU. Well, I had a chance to catch up with Craft , aka Nick Cottingham, who is one of their emcees, and he slipped me this gem. Apparently, WAY back in the day, Biomecca used to do shows with Grieves , who you should probably know by now, especially since we met him not too long ago. Either way, the [...]

There's something very old-school TV variety show-esque about this past week's "Drum Solo Week" feature on the Late Show with David Letterman.

The American Idol finale wasn't just all about performances last night. There were a few segments thrown in there two. They did a sort of roast video for the judges with Randy Jackson's showing how many times he said people are "in it to win it"; Steven Tyler's showing lots of clips of him saying crazy things, inappropriate things and curse words; and Jennifer Lopez's just showing how much everyone loves her. One of my two favorite segments came in the form of a video in which contestants talked about being eliminated, with James Durbin and Casey James arguing over [...]

Thirty years into this career Prince is still busting fine ass moves, hitting notes high and low, and peeling his guitar to the tune of making grown folks lose their minds.

Last night Prince shared the stage with Miss Chaka Kahn & Sheila E. Friday night it was Alicia Keys . I just heard that next month Stevie Wonder is opening one of the nights. Ya'll better represent, the show is a stellar old school New Power Generation meets Paisley Park meets a Purple Paradise . All I know is he sang one of all time favorite obscure Prince songs, "Sometimes [...]

In honor of Prince's never-ending shows at the Forum , I decided to rekindle this old post from the old blog. Below are my Top Prince songs of all time. This was 1 of the hardest compilations 2 make as I had 2 narrow it down so much. I had over at least 60 songs that I wanted on it, from various mixes & not 2 mention all his b-sides, but I had 2 make it shorter. All songs below were written by the Purple one (with the exception to Waterfalls [...]
