Photo from NASA Flickr set Who needs some hurricane music? Despite the fact that the national media is treating this like the end of civilization, we east coasters are really quite alright. Boston will get a bunch of rain and wind, but I live on the 7th floor up on a hill, so I will be fine. I just hope that the power doesn't go out cause that would suck. But I'm all stocked up with cookies, donuts, and beer just in case I'm shut in! [...]

Pic by Boubouteatime .

Love the idea for this flyer promoting the fifth annual Pitchfork / Windish Austin Party . Not stoked on the execution. Why not have Austin's Neon Indian on a Shiner label? And why put LA's Local Natives on a Brooklyn Brewery label? Lazy if you ask me. But I'll give 'em props for the Washed Ou t / Coors Light pairing. That's almost Wacky Packs material. See the full band/beer label flyer at Pitchfork » • • • • [...]

Ok, let's just get this out in the open: I am, unapologetically, one serious Allen Epley fanboy. A quick inventory of my iTunes library results in 105 tracks from Mr. Epley and his various accomplices. I have original releases, re-releases, imports, EPs, compilations, demos, bootlegs, t-shirts, stickers, ticket stubs, a DVD and a pick. I frequent a message board dedicated (at least, at this point, in name) to Shiner. I've road tripped thousands of miles over the past decade to see Shiner and The Life and Times at least a dozen times. Included in those trips [...]

After a few months of inexplicable inactivity, Open Hand have posted two new tracks to their myspace page . Fans of HUM should rejoice. The title track from their forthcoming album, 'Honey', features Matt Talbott extensively on vocals and, one can only assume, guitar. Sure sounds like HUM, and that's never a bad thing. The other track, 'Cool', hasn't quite grabbed me yet. Sounds like the Glee soundtrack trainwrecked into Black Sabbath (it should be noted - for the sake of my dignity - I've never actually seen an episode of Glee). Promises of new show dates, [...]
Baby, when you think about legendary local '90s alternative rock band Shiner, you probably don't think about Bad Company -- or, for that matter, love. But that's about to change, if you haven't hear... Continue reading "Free MP3 Hot Sex Download: Shiner, "Feel Like Makin' Love"" >

It's been a slow couple weeks for the blog. Varying work schedules and the fact the site was down for practically a whole weekend are somewhat to blame. Anyway, I got some spare time tonight and figured I would throw up a couple singles from KC's Molly McGuire . Actually these singles are both splits, one being with Shiner and the other with Iron Rite Mangle . I think both came out while the band was in between records, but I could be wrong. I also put up the track "Chase", [...]

Okay. Not really, but you would think that from watching the news. For those of y'all that don't know. Ninebullets.net is based in St. Petersburg, Florida and as you may or may not know; we have a little inclimate weather heading our way tonight/tomorrow. Now really, I'm not thinking Fay's gonna pack much of a punch...Cat. 1 at landfall and quickly downgrading to Tropical Storm after landfall. However, I've not been through anything more than a thunderstorm at the new house so I'm not sure what's gonna happen with the power. Additionally, being on the edge of the hood I [...]

Andrea, Barry, Chantal, Dean, Erin, Felix, Gabrielle, Humberto, Ingrid, Jerry, Karen, Lorenzo, Melissa, Noel, Olga, Pablo, Rebekah, Sebastien, Tanya, Van and Wendy. That's this year's list of hurricane names. There are six lists that rotate and they do not change unless there is a hurricane that is so devastating that the name is retired , then another name replaces it. Today is the official beginning of the 2007 Hurricane Season. A couple of weeks ago we had an early arrival with the formation of Tropical Storm Andrea. Unless you live on the East or Gulf Coast, Hurricane Season probably [...]
Here I am, a little over a year into this blog, and I've never written about one of my favorite Midwest acts, Shiner . Shiner was undoubtedly one of, if not the main band, that got me into the more bombastic hard hitting style of rock that has somehow grown into its own little genre here in the central plains. Formed in 1992 right here in my backward of Kansas City, MO by Allen Epley along with Shawn Sherrill and Jeff Brown, the band would only play a handful of shows before Tim [...]
