By @ khal for DoAndroidsDance.com Another week down, another Ultra Music Festival weekend. We'll be live-streaming, but you lot might be more in tune to the tracks found here. We've got stuff to move your feet and stuff that'll having you thinking in your seat. From the sounds of zouk tonew jack swing, we've got most basses covered. Rustie - "Triadzz" "Triadzz" is truly a contender for one of the best of 2013. AlunaGeorge - "Attracting Flies (Baauer Remix)" The way Baauer flipped that chorus [...]
Within like three seconds I knew these tracks were going to be worth it. The title Over It, is what initially got my attention. Caught it at Low Life , hit em up they have all the information you could need on this new-to-me producer. Out of Vancouver, Patrick Holland is a Canuck . Previously he's released an EP called Time Waste, you can get on his bandcamp . It's hard not to mention the influence of Shlohmo on these tracks. He's got the high-pitched vocal samples, heavy bass synth lines, good hi hats, everything [...]
Mp3: Shlohmo - Bo Peep (Do U Right) ft. Jeremih
The top mp3s have gone through many incarnations since the beginning of Consequence of Sound in 2007. What used to be an exhaustive roundup of all the singles, remixes, covers, and undiscovered gems emailed to us any given week evolved into a compilation whittled down to our 10 favorite new songs. For 2013, we’re again changing up the format with the hope of giving our selections some added weight. We’re still posting about our 10 favorite songs, but they’ll be ordered in quality from 10-1. Who takes home #1 this week? You’ll have to click ‘Next’ to find [...]
It was Shlohmo's 2012 remix of Jeremih's "Fuck U All The Time" that first left us all a little speechless. At the time, it seemed an original collaboration between the two might only be a far off dream. As 2013 rolls into Spring, that dream has become a reality. Jeremih and Shlohmo's new track "Do U Right" demonstrates an intense chemistry between the two artists. It's a superhuman collaboration that perfect for the dance floor. Check it out below. By Phoebe Severin Shlohmo - Bo Peep (Do U Right) (ft. Jeremih) [...]
Rising producer Shlohmo featuring R&B smoothie Jeremih, another cool collaboration courtesy of the fine folks at Yours Truly . Cover art by Saiman Chow.
Not gonna lie, originally wasn't big on this song two days ago upon release, but after a few listens, I can't stop playing it. From the Songs From Scratch series sponsored by Yours Truly and Adidas Originals , we're blessed with this new song. On first thought you may not think to throw these two artists together, but I'd take an entire project from Shlohmo and Jeremih any day of the week. [...]
Yours Truly's " Songs From Scratch " series has resulted in some pretty amazing collaborations, with results like Danny Brown and AraabMuzik's " Molly Ringwald " or Angel Haze and Lunice's " Gimme That ". This round of the series delivers some sexy production and soulful singing from Los Angeles' Shlohmo and Chicago's Jeremih. The two come together and created "Bo Peep (Do U Right)", a pulsating R&B cut with grimy production and emotional croons echoing throughout. It's dirty, but it's oh so good. Stream the song, along with a making-of video, below.
After posting an video preview of two together last month, it became completely evident that the unlikely pair of Los Angeles-based producer Shlohmo and R&B [...]
LA Beatmaker Shlomo & R&B Singer Jeremih (of Birthday Sex fame) link up for this stellar new track featuring some dope production and some silky smooth falsetto from Jeremih.
So Phillip Morris 'smacked' Stones Throw with a lawsuit over the cover of Jonwayne's Cassette . In retaliation, Jonwayne decided to release a second cassette, Cassette 2. Initially he had no intention of this release, but in light of the recent lawsuit we get the tape, and a new song. Passing Fancies is of Jonwayne's tightest composition. The fans must agree, he's looking at nearly 20k plays on that soundcloud. Jonwayne is preparing to release his rap album, Rap Album 1. The selected cuts for Cassette 2 are mostly leftover tracks that didn't make [...]
This is a rare collab made in Arthouse heaven. I'm not sure wether it's on purpose but virtually every Shlohmo joint -original or remix - sounds like it was made by a trap giant on promethazene, and even though this is a bit more pop then most of his tracks it serves as a perfect backdrop for Jeremih to spit his falsetto game over. Check it out below.
Following up his debut EP Time Waste ( Jellyfish Recordings , 2012), young Vancouver-based electronic music producer and Chapel Sound crew-member, Patrick Holland, a.k.a. 8prn , has crafted this smoky soulful brooding beat-tape entitled Over It for our very own Blenheim & Celtic Recordings . The record is cheeky, dark, and intoxicating, but also souful and sincere. On this project, Holland draws heavily on hip-hop and R&B for the rhythmic framework, which was constructed using a Roland SP-404 and [...]
Just recently, on March 5th , Shlohmo (Henry Laufer) released the R&B influenced, experimentally electronic Laid Out EP , which featured vocals from Tom Krell of How to Dress Well. Music Player: Bo Peep (Do U Right) ft. Jeremih [...]
Post his immaculate remix of 'Fuck U All The Time' (one of my top tunes of fall 2012) the official collaboration between Shlohomo and Jeremih has been one of those things you long for so bad it's almost hurts. At least I have and here it finally is and well, I'm sorry but it's on the level as that good, (yes, here I go again, another analogy to either sex or food, as they are my only ones suitable when it comes to real good music) when you reach climax with someone you actually care about and after eat something [...]
As part of Yours Truly and Adidas ongoing " Songs From Scratch " series, blog-beloved producer Shlomo and Chicago rapper Jeremih have teamed up for the strikingly lovely "Bo Peep (Do U Right)." The result is perfect blending of bedroom electro and modern R&B. Plus, the cover art from Saiman Chow adds a glorious touch. Catch Shlomo and Jeremih performing together exclusively in San Francisco April 5 at 1015 Folsom . The show (poster here ) will also feature Nite Jewel , D33J , [...]
After seeing pictures of the two together, I was highly anticipating the collaboration of the unlikely pair of Jeremih and Shlohmo . We now have the result in “Bo Peep (Do U Right)”. It’s unsurprisingly too sexy for school, and these pulsating synths and horny lyrics, make this prime bait for your next bedroom mix. Maybe this was made over someone’s unhealthy fascination with the character Bo Peep from the Toy Story films?
Give credit to Abel Tesfaye and Jeremy "Zodiac" Rose, whose first album under the Weeknd umbrella fulfilled that hoariest of cliches: it changed the game. The songwriting was weak, but the aesthetic was clear, so much as an aesthetic can be clear when it's clouded by enough prescription pills and cocaine to make Anna Nicole Smith clock out. Abel mewled like a banshee in heat and Zodiac took bits of Clams Casino, screw music and Boi 1-DA and "403 and mixed them into something new. It was baby-making music for people who may never actually breed. (Word to Monie [...]
